which type of engine coolant?

Featured Replies

I bought a second hand W registration Fabia 1.4 8v classic. At the moment, the engine coolant is kind of PINK water(don't know its type and brand). Could anyone suggest which type of coolant or ready mixed anti-freezing should I bought to top it up? Many thanks!:)

Your pink coolant is VW-spec G12, which is fine as long as it's not more than a couple of years old. If you want t replace it, you might only be able to get G12+ from a dealer now, but this is also OK...

I don't know the implications of using non-G12 / G12+, but I imagine it would be OK for the 1.4 MPi engine in your car, seeing how it doesn't need fancy oil like the newer VW engines do. But I could be wrong. I think a 1.5l bottle of G12+ costs about £7.50 at the mo, which will dilute to give you 4.5l, which I think is enough for a complete refill if you need it. Remember to dilute with distilled / demineralised water!

Incorrect antifreeze can cause airlocks in the system so I'd just use G12+
