3 Folding Questions...

Featured Replies

1) I see on the folding control panel that there is a check box to 'disable highly optimised code'.....Will it make any difference to the folding rate with this off?

2) What is the above mentioned anyway???

3) will running the folding kill the processor faster than normal (providing that the chip is kept at the machine managed temperature)?

Mine seems to run at about 45 - 50 degrees C then the fan will speed up, is this ok?

Is there any software to download that I can speed up the processor fan a little just to be sure that it's cool - not so it's fast but a little??

Thanks,

Ben

Yes, your WUs will take at lest 3 times as long to complete. Your progress will dop from say 10-15 mins per % to more than 1 hr per %.

The application uses the extra SSE code builtin to most CPUs. This is designed as a boost for number crunching.

The processor life will not change, I have been folding for the team for 3 years. Some of the machines have been upgraded but one or two have been folding 24/7 for this time.

Those temps are fine, and you shouldnt worry at all.
