312mm brake Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am going to upgrade the fronts to 312mm as I do feel it is the way I need to go and get it done first before I move onto any engine mods.

However I am new to all this and am unsure or the best way to do it.

I do notice I can get 312 conversion kits inculding carriers calipers discs and pads, but also there are ofther kits that just consist of Carriers and discs meaning I use my existing callipers, and then there is the straight swap out with other VAG group 312 calipers carriers and discs.

So all in all there are many difering ways to do this.

Advice and recomendations on this are need, so please help.

I do not want to change the wheels from the standard ones so please no advice changing sizes bigger than will fit inside 16" alloys.

thank you all,

Neil

Cant just use carriers. Got to use calipers, disc's, pads, and would be a good idea to use octavia hoses. Pref goodridge.

Its a straght swap. Just need to bleed the system.

They will fit in 16's.

And if you get octavia vRS calipers like me, there already green.

Ive spent £220 on my brakes, but that includes mintex pads front and back, and new disc's.

thats good to know that Octavia Vrs 312 setup fits straight off. will keep an eye out for that sort of thing.

silly thing is I found a statement by someone (can't remember who) stating that a carrier will work with orginal calipers. I am no modifying expert but I was sure that would not work so well...

As for the green colour, under normal VRS standards that would be great, however I have the SE which has RED Brakes

thank you for your helpful info.
