Fabia while the Superb in at dealers

Featured Replies

My 1.9 55 Superb has been in at the dealers having waranty work done for the last three days (I get it back tomorrow) and in the meantime, I have had their Fabia....

I can honestly say, it is a truly horrible little car. The engine has no go and is so noisy when pulling away - sounds like a 2CV. The interior is made out of the worst quality plastics I have seen since I sat in my brothers Lada Samara back in the late 80s and with 800 miles on the clock it has rattles coming from various places inside. The fuel consumption is worse then my Superb as well.

I drove an old model Fabia a while back and was impressed with it for what it was - good quality etc.

Why would anyone buy one of these?

(apologies to any Fabia drivers - clearly, Im joking and the Fabia is in fact a fantastic car and the interior is not made out of recycled toilet seats)

I drove a Fabia vRS for the first time last weekend and while I may agree that the interior is not up to the same standard as the Superb the engine was spot on.......

What spec Fabia do you have? I guess you have to be realistic that the Fabia is a lot cheaper car dependant on the spec level for comparison?

I'm guessing it's a Fabia II which if the case I can understand the sentiment, especially if it was the base spec. I had one the other day while my car was in for warranty work and found it to be far too basic and generally an unpleasant car to be in, that said the higher spec 2 & 3 look a whole lot better imo.

Warranty work;), must have been interior related then Steve

Not sure of the spec - but must be the most basic. Has aircon, electric windows and cd player though. Just sub standard plastics. The inside of the car is honestly the worst quality and most basic I have seen in years. For instance, the switches for the electric windows are flimsy, feel sharp and even look cheep. The door handle inside is made of discoloured plastic and feels like a plastic coat hanger. Im sorry, but this car is terrible. In the last 12 months I have driven an old model Fabia and thought it was very nice - good quality feel to it, a Ford Fiesta - which was very impressive and felt safe and comfortable and a Corsa, which had a good feel to it. I had a small Seat for a couple of days a while back and thought that was bad.... but the new Fabia is in a league of its own! Anyone paying £8K for one of these must need their head looking at. An original fiat Panda has a better interior.

It's not just about what you know......................

Yeah, mum's is a bit like that. I'm not a huge fan of the plastics in there, but I love the seats and at the end of the day it's equivalent to nearly every Vauxhall I've ever driven, so it's not that bad.

Brilliant fun to drive though :D

This whole anti-new Fabia thing is getting a bit tiring. Sure it's not as good as it could be but your comparisons above "An original fiat Panda has a better interior" and "The interior is made out of the worst quality plastics I have seen since I sat in my brothers Lada Samara back in the late 80s" seem a little unrealistic to say the least.

But hey, this is Briskoda...

They loaned me a Fabia whilst mine was in for its 40K service and well what can i say.......3cylinder engine...........oh god enough said:rofl:

Well, I guess... but this is the Superb forum.

In any case, it's obvious that the Fabia is going to have lower specification plastics/switches/hats/whatever than the Superb - the Fabia is entry level and the Superb is high-end.

The point I think both myself and Baker (and others) were trying to make is that the newer Fabia seems to have gone down since the older one.

Anyway. At least arguments increase post counts!

The Fabia is fine, I've driven plenty of far shitter cars. The spec on the Fabia1 is rather rubbish though.

I much prefer the new Fabia to the new Corsa, I haven't driven a new Fiesta enough to come to a conclusion but I imagine since it's a ford it is going to be fairly poor and no doubt the interior will be full of 'bling' and shiney crap to attract the magpie chav buyers.

LOL.

I'm saving for a Fabia II as I get to drive them at work. I want a 1.4L, 16V spec though.
