Featured Replies

Hiya, I havent driven the car for a long while due to family issues but now lifes beginning to turn back to normal and just sorting out the car to drive again. It needs an MOT soon however I have this damn ABS light on still. Previously checked it coded out as: ABS 00301 - ABS Return Flow Pump (V39) 35-00.

Later on when i did some more scanning I got the following:

Seems like lots of faults there... :thumbdwn: I've resenctly changed a new battery so I dont know if they made any difference. Could someone with superior knowledge of this depict if there are any major problems i need to sort from this list?

~ I can see coolant temp is intermittant, Im guessing that means the sensor is on its way out? Found a thread to change that but would like someone to clarify this for me (thanks!)

~ I have a few fault codes going back to "Engine control Module", does this mean something serious, or is it just me not starting the car and check it?

I've researched on fixing the abs and alot of people have said its more likely that its the control module which is playing up. Ok great, but would a 2nd hand one do or will it eventually have the same problem again? Where can i find a place which sells these; besides from the dealer.

I've also read somewhere that it was corrosion of the wires and they also need to be replaced.

Lastly is it possible to fit this control unit without having a need for a professional mech..? or will I save myself alot of hassle if I ask them to do it for me. Haynes manual said leave it to the specialists...

Many thanks for taking your time reading and thanks in advance if you have any advice!

I'd say a lot of those are from the duff battery and changing it.

Clear the codes, test drive, and scan again.

Clear all the faults and re-post a new autoscan. What's happened to 15 - airbags?

No communications could be down to a power supply or earth problem to the unit - if it has no power it can't respond, or the signals from the CAN bus wires from the unit cannot be getting through. If you have the time and don't want to spend any money at the moment, remove the battery, battery tray, ECU, bulkhead sound deadening, the black bulkhead panel that the ECU is attached to, unbolt the ABS module at the inner wing and the chassis rail and strip the insulation from the main wiring loom from above where it enters the black panel down to where it starts to pass over the gear box mount and check for water ingress. Water in there will affect the communications. Whilst ther you can clear out the plenum chamber drains.

There is what I consider to be a design fault on the loom grommet at the plenum chamber, it has a collar on it which is taped into the loom, this collar acts like a funnel, directing water straight into the loom.

Resetted it and drove it a little and it came up with the things above, for some reason i cannot reset the steering assist, it says 'no controller' so i dont know what that means but im assuming theres nothing wrong currently as powersteering works and the steering wheel has no problems (of what i've noticed).

Is there any additional info for the ABS fault? (keeps coming back on after reset and driven anymore than 2 meters) :(

Id say its all down to the ABS fault. Have you got 12v to the ABS pump/control unit? Check the fuse above the battery.
