I went for the Exige experience in the end (choice of that, single seater or rally) and I'm sure I made the right choice. As it was my first stab at track driving having an instructor shouting at me made all the difference. And he had plenty to shout about - I was rubbish! My clutch control was woeful, lines dreadful and I couldn't keep both hands on the wheel! But for the last 2 laps of my second session he was saying very little which I took as a good sign - and the corners started to flow a little.

It's all I can think about now - I want another go. MORE!!! I might have the bug.

Oh, and an added bonus, I was expecting an Exige (180bhp) but it turned out to be the supercharged Exige S with 220bhp...and with it weighing a mere 750kg boy did it shift  It may have been slightly quicker than a 2.0l Fabia...maybe ;)

Also, racing driving instructors don't mince their words do they? I suppose you can't at speed, but at first I thought he was having a go at me :o

Oh, and the passenger hot-lap at the end was an eye opener - you know when Clarkson said of the Exige "it corners like a housefly"? Understatement.

Excellent stuff

I've been intending to go on a track day experience for ages now (did rallying last year and that was awesome) but for some unknown reason I haven't got round to it yet. And I'd love to play with an Exige...

Glad you enjoyed it!

Kay.

I'd sort of got this impression :P

Jammy and g*t are the words that come to mind :)

Excellent, would love to go on something similar myself.

Did they allow you to use full power then, or were you restricted in any way.

Which experience did you go for?

The Exige Experience. Top notch - they're very professional, excellent briefing, lots of knowledgeable instructors around. If I had a criticism it would be that it was over far too quickly!

Nope - I was allowed to go as fast as I wanted. That actually wasn't that fast at first, and I never got into 6th even down the Hanger straight, was probably only touching 100 in 5th. I don't actually have a clue because the gauges were the last thing I was looking at.
