Anti carjacking system

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

Wondering if has anybody had already a anti-carjacking system installed in Octavia.

I know that tha car comes already with alarm but, in a carjacking situation I believe there´s no "mood" for swithing the alarm and run...

Searched and found "Car Jacking Skybrake DD2+" and "BlackJax".

Seem like efficiente systems and not very expensive, but, what I don't know is: does the instalation of these devices won't change the normal function on the car, won't it be invasive? I mean, won't it change electrobnic progamming or stuff like that in the car? (I don't know even if it is necessary toi re-programm something in the instalation process?)

Thanks if anyone can help.

Hi

I'm not familiar with the 3rd party systems that your referring to however, the Octavia comes with its own anti car jacking system which can be enabled by a dealer or someone with a VAG COM unit. This system automatically locks all the doors once the car goes over a certain speed, thus preventing car jacking when you stop at lights e.t.c.... IIRC in the event of the on board accelerometers detecting a crash it will automatically release the door locks.

Maybe worth considering getting it enabled.

the inbuilt one seems a bit pointless to me, all they've got to do is put the window through, having being on the receiving end of that, i was fortunate i was in my old ford focus at the time which is fiddly as hell to unlock from the outside, the t**t yanked at the door handle a couple of times and i t****d him at which point he buggered off, if id been in the octavia, two pulls and the doors open

but then you have a button by the handbrake, keep it pressed.

keep it pressed, ah i didnt know that, thank you :)

two pulls and the doors open

From the inside yes, not the outside though.

rather easy with the window put through, as i said, i've been on the receiving end before

edit: oh errr missus jus read that back

Use the anti-hijack feature enabled on VAG-Com or at dealer and get the side glass covered with the clear security film or window tint. Makes it very hard to gain entry once the glass is smashed. Gives enough time to make an escape or turn round and run the little f00000s over..........

sounds like a plan!

I think the South Africans have it sorted when it comes to anti-carjacking devices. Do a Google search on "The Flame Blaster".

That's one of the reason I have the Pentagon SupaGlass installed as it can't be smashed from the outside.

I've just watched the Pentagon videos and it looks like a good product. What sort of price are we looking at for an Oct 2?

Ive had this installed on every car Ive ever owned and it cost me around £500 to have the Octy done. :)

In some areas of the UK thieves are using force to take cars.

Personally, if confronted by what looks like a weapon (many VRS type cars are stolen at gun point - even from your home) I'd give them the car.

I value my life at more than £17k.

I think the black jaxx makes more sense as they get your car, get a safe distance away and then get no further.

FWIW the film happily stopped a tree on a car i saw.

Get a Trunk Monkey :)

Shouldn't say this given the other post but it cost me £300 cash, this is my third car I have had done with them though. Two Octys and my old Honda Accord, before I saw the light :)

Hello, noob here, 1st post :)

If i get this disabled will i have manual control of the lock switch by the handbrake?? its so annoying; i use my Octavia as a taxi but the lock switch is convenient when im driving through town at night and drunken women are trying to open my door at every set of lights ...under normal circumstances that would be a good thing but not when your trying to earn money :P

Hi & welcome to the forums.

I have it disabled on mine (came from dealer like that) and the button by the handbrake still locks and unlocks all the doors manually.

but then you have a button by the handbrake, keep it pressed.

i remembered to try it, held the lock side of the switch down and still two pulls opens the doors

They will do, the handle pull is an emergency get out of the car feature.

As I said above get the film if you want, but if somebody wants my car and is threatening me or people dear to me they can have it.

That is what insurance is for.

I would also fit the blackjaxx as that way you can give them the car they drive off thinking they have it you can get away somewhere safe and your car can be recovered down the road.

YouTube - Clifford Blackjax Alarm By Precision Alarms probably explains blackjax best. Essentially before you start the car you have to key in a pin with a 2 button thingy. If the door opens at any point then you have to key the pin in again. Give your car to a jacker, they won't know the pin, they'll get the alarm and the car stopping etc.
