Fabia - which brake pads?

Featured Replies

What are the best upgrade pads to use on a Fabia? (for what I would call "brisk road use")

I've been looking at EBC greenstuff/redstuff..

Is it worth replacing the fronts and the rears, or would just the fronts suffice?

I might need to change the fluid as well.

I dont want to crazy, but I would like a bit more bite from the middle pedal when pressing on!

I doubt anyone on Briskoda has done this to a Fabia, so thoughts from Octavia owners are very welcome..

Thanks :)

I have not uprated my pads, but I have fitted Mintex replacements. On the genuine pads I removed, the 3 pronged spring on the back of the pads are different sizes. 'Fat prongs' on the piston side, and 'thin prongs' on the outside pad. The Mintex pads all have 'thin prongs', so the piston pad now has slight movement, causing a clicking sound when the brakes are applied. One taxi driver in Northampton has asked EBC to make up special pads for him. I don't see him very often, so a call to EBC Northampton may be a good start. Hope this helps.

Ferodo DS2500s would be good, also get some Castrol RS Super DOT 4 fluid.

A nice combination, don't fade even with little flames coming from the top of the pad :D

Have a look in the discount forum and give Kevin @ Sejoc a ring.

Be careful what pads you fit. Some members on this forum apparently fit combustible pads to impress onlookers! Ever since I had flames coming out of the air intake of a Lotus Elan S2 following a backfire on starting, I much prefer to see flames confined to the exhaust...redface.gif

My sons use EBC Greenstuff pads for their Peugeot 205 1.9GTi and Nissan 200SX. I don't think either notice any great difference over whatever they had fitted previously - which weren't sourced from Peugeot/Nissan dealers.

Oh and don't bother about the rears at this time.

TabsTaxi,

I take it your original pads were repalaced due to wear. Why did you change to Mintex? Are they longer-lasting/cheaper.

Any clicking noises would drive me mad!

TaviaRS,

I'll give Sejoc a ring and make some enquiries. Not sure about the flames though! :flame:

I'll get the fluid done at the next sevice, so the ABS chambers can be done properly.

Denis,

I had a set of EBC Greenstuff on my 205 Dturbo. They did make a difference, although the brakes werent that great to start with!

One thing I noticed with them was the increased amount of dust -yet EBC claim reduced levels of brake dust!

Thanks all. :)
