Nova >> Corsa reshell project

Featured Replies

Well following a little 'issue' involving another rallycar at my last event in May, the rallycar has been inspected and needed a new rear quarterpanel, new door, jigging and worst of all 2 new sills due to a combination of accident damage and 20yr old shell..

Therefore the decision has been taken to reshell the car and a Corsa shell came up at the right price. Its got a cage installed with forward triangulation to the front suspension turrets, extra bracing and multipointing to the shell. Its also been seam welded already and sprayed in white. Now the work starts properly - going to be a long summer!

Luckily all the major parts will transfer over from the Nova - ie

Engine,

Box

Diff

Brakes

Suspension

Steering Rack (though I may fit power steering which cocks that up)

Seats

Harnesses

Safety Equipment

Wheels

Paul..

been there, done that! :D

Good luck with the reshell, should be fairly straight forward.

Its the time aspect of it thats the issue.

Plus getting all the parts together the way they should be - I dont know my way around a Corsa the way I know a Nova.

First got a Nova to strip though - and before I can do that Ive got a shed to buy / build to put the parts into!

paul only issue you may have is the diff.......................with the extra weight of the corsa, you may find it far better with a 4.8CWP - know that we have with most of our customers cars!!

Paul, I don't know much about Rally cars but as an engineer I would recommend changing the front strut brace for something with a bit more structural rigidity. That orange coloured one will not be man enough I'm afraid.

Sorry....couldn't resist.

don't tell 'em that................that's our "BEST SELLER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Alyn,

At the moment Ive only got a 4.29CWP in there as Ive not got a SC box at the moment so the 4.8 would mean a whole new box anyway and whilst its certainly on the agenda to get a SC box, I want to get the corsa up and running first. I think a SC box and 4.5 CWP would be my first choice as Im planning on running 14" wheels (as with the Nova) which will drop the ratio a little and on SV events I know Marcus was sitting on the limiter in his Corsa at Mira for example (also 8v engine and with a 4.5CWP/Quaiffe F15 box).

As I may be taking the car to Barbados and there are lots of very long straights out there I dont want to be sat on the limiter too much and losing time. We shall see but its always good to get feedback anyways.

Jimmy - oh, ha ha ha ;)
