Having car resprayed - what to look for when checking it afterwards?

Featured Replies

having bonet, wings, pass side doors, and rear quarter panel and ive never had to inspect a car and not 100% for things too look for. im a bit of a perfectionist with keeping the car clean, and the panels are comming direct from skoda, so any hints?

i know not too inspect a wet car or one in the dark/poor light.

First of all I very much doubt it will be absolutly 100% perfect, but a good sprayer should be able to get it that close that you strugle to tell. Personally - i've always been able to identify a car that has had sprayed paint work. The most common things are overspray inside the door shuts and wings under the bonnet. Other differences can be in the metalic flake quantity that can make a noticable difference in bright light.

Keep an eye out for orange peel and sharp edges where the paint doesn't flow around the panel edge as standard.

Hope it works out well for you.

can you describe what overspray looks like as i have an idea but not 100%

You can feel it (rough surface texture) and will most likely look a bit dull. Best bet is to run your finger around the door hinges ect. Be very carefull not to scratch doing this as the paint may be still relatively soft as it can take several days and sometimes weeks before it is fully hardened. Fresh paint always requires a little bit more care.

ive asked for the drivers wing to be done so itll be a full front end respray but unfortunatly i dont have the money to be paying for to much to be done atm.

just spoken to them and they said if they where to do the whole wing theyde then have to blend into the door and itll cost a fair bit. so they said there happy to blend it on the wing to cover the majority of the chips. now will this stand out? am i better off findong out how much for a full respray whilst there at it? as im worried this blending will look bad?

if only a few hundred more i would wait,as the old paint mint have faded and may need a lot of T cutting what coulor is it,as it will be more if metalic

Sorry just seen that it is black
