new wheels

Featured Replies

hi,going to change my 17"zeniths to 18"rs4 replicas.what offset should i be looking for,and what is the difference between et35 and et45,cheers

IIRC, correct offset on the Octy2 is 52 or 54.

To answer your question, there's 10mm between ET35 and 45. In the Octy's case, the lower the offset number, the further out the wheels will sit in the arch.

ET45 might look OK and others may have fitted wheels with a similar offset. But I'd want to check how they looked.

Skoda's 'official' dealer accessory B14 wheels are 8J x 18" with ET45.

Here's what they look like, the angle of the photo is designed to show the wheel position relative to the wheelarches;-

I'm afraid to say, YES they will be too wide and will sit too far out.

They are ET35; the B14s in my photo are ET45 so yours will sit 10mm further out (wider). Looking at the photo it will put the wheel/tyre beyond the line of the mudflaps (as photoed) which are themselves wider than the wheel arches.

For those' date=' like me, that have no idea what the previous two posters are strictly on about.........

........I have found Wikipedia to be quite informative!

General Alloy Sizing

Offset (I never knew ET was a German abbreviation!)

Hope this helps others as plebbian as me when it comes to these things.

Hopefully this might help explain sizing so you can get wheels that fit.
