Just a quick Guestimate

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I recently bought a fabia comfort 1.4, Its a very nice car and runs decent but I think the brake pads need replacing, they feel abit spongey. Also the door on the passenger front side leaks water into the footwell when parked on an angle, what can I get done about these? If I can... how much will it cost roughly?

Cheers!

Having inspected the problem further I noticed my rear wiper spray wasnt working, and my wiper fluid well is absoloutely empty... I havent even used it once. Also searching around I have found that the connector for the rear + the well runs directly underneath the passenger side of the car, and parking my car on that angle obviously drained all the fluid to that side of the car and up into the passenger footwell. This is hopefully a mechanical fault and will be covered by my 3 month warrenty I received with my car. As for the breaks Im not too fussed I will simply get them checked and replaced! Does this sound logical considering my problem or could it be something else?

pull back the passenger side boot carpet below the rear speaker and see if the tube is still connected

as for the brake pads... mintex ones on ebay for £20ish, easy to do yourself

Can you give more specific directions to the tube? I found a connector behind the rear passanger door, leading up to the headrest on the left side that was disconnected, but I believe it follows further down underneath the door and alongside the front passenger footwell and has more connection points. If im correct its a small black rubber tube with plastic connection points that click together? Also how can I get the carpet up, its all hooked underneath the plastic cladding around the doors.

Thanks in advance!

Any problems you have - make a list and take it back to the dealers to sort out - you do, after all, have a 3 month warranty.

And, make a 'special' point about the brakes.

Can you give more specific directions to the tube? Thanks in advance!

There are only a few connection points, which I listed in this post a few months ago. It sounds like you found the rear seat one, so chances are you've fixed it already! I'm not sure this would be covered by the dealer warranty (very little is unless you pay through the nose for it :( ), but like the air con on my wife's car, they may sort it anyway. The door leak is another that may not be covered, but this article on vRStu's site will show you how to fix it.

The brakes definitely will be covered by the warranty, however, and since it needs 'proper' tools to fix (axle stands, piston winders etc.), you sohuld definitely get the dealer to sort them!
