Heater problems

Featured Replies

Having had problems last year with the heater being stuck on hot, the local dealer reset the heater control flaps (or something like that). We have the problem again and this time we are being asked to pay £360 for a new temperature flap motor and a recirculating motor - in a car that has only done 15,000 miles! (she's a 2002 model). We've already had to pay out for water leaks to be cured, which I have subsequently found on this forum, is another manufacturing problem.

The diagnostics are:

01271 030

Positioning motor for temperature flap -V68

Open circuit/short circuit to B+

sporadic

01596 030

Fresh/recirculating air flap positioning motor -V154

Open circuit/short circuit to B+

sporadic

01271 029

Positioning motor for temperature flap -V68

Short circuit to Ground (GND)

sporadic

Can anyone decifer what all this means please? Are the parts readily available from somewhere other than the Skoda dealer (who want £179), and can the job be done by a reasonable competetent home mechanic - me!

Thanks - Les
