On the trip computer, the one that resets everytime you drive it tells you the MPG for that journey?? click the stalk then it switches to the other mode that tells you your overall MPG for X amount of miles

With the current mini petrol crisis (which is probably resolved now) I decided to eke out this tank as far as possible. I'm driving like Miss Daisy and current average is ~54 - I've done 276 miles and I'm still one notch away from half a tank!

Bearing in mind I've just had a remap, driving at no more than 68 is doing my head in!

I did well too. First time ive ever seen 400 miles without a red light, trip comp said i was going to make 470/480 miles, 100 more than my previous best, well chuffed :D

That's poor! You have a lead foot clearly ;)

That was a 48mpg average which i thought was good?

Go on depress me... what did you get? :(

See my sig ;)

48.2 is my current long term average. I'm aiming for 550+ this tank (though I admit it might drive me mad)

The last motorway cruise I had, I was seeing 57 - that was hovering just under 80 leptons...

Have you tried the Millers?

I use millers all the time, one capfull also use Shell V-power . I do have a heavy foot however as i get bored. My long term average is around 42/43mpg

On my most recent Mway cruise was ,

52mpg at 70mph with cruise on

48mpg at xxmph with cruise on

42mpg at xxmph with cruise on,

jumps in tens ;)

Motorway wasnt flat however,

Ah, cruise. I suspect that cruise is bad for mpg, but I won't know for certain till I have it fitted myself (shortly). Try your right foot instead and watch the instant mpg like a hawk.

My trip computer is just reading 99.6miles with an estimated range of 665miles :) (Not using the expansion tank)

I only expect about 570miles on this tank - computer vastly exaggerates the mpg/range...

Don't do it!

My best so far is 524 from a tank but I was almost a gibbering wreck ready to murderfy something/anything at the end of it. That's if I didn't die from boredom beforehand though :D

Long-term average is 45.9. I really don't know how people can average 48-50mpg  :(

My mate still can't believe my Felly can do 42 mpg :D

On a 25 mile drive to work, my average is never below 52mpg :D

i think alot of people on here chat complete ****e about fuel consumption....... i have driven like a complete looser and that was not going above 2500 revs before and i still only manages 58 mpg and that was doing 50 in 60's etc

either there are some fibbers or your computers are telling you porkies

well for me going to work I'm only getting 35-37mpg for a three mile trip to work, once I pick SWMBO up at night it goes up to about 41mpg

well since we going on about this,

on monday coming to work, 28 mile trip.......

72.3mpg will post pic later,

average mpg after 220 miles is 53.7mgp

not bad i thought

Depends on the roads aswell i suppose.

On my 25 miles to work, there is only 1 slight hill that i have to drive on, so basically, i'm sitting at 60mph in 6th for around 23 miles of my journey.

Hence why i get a high figure on my commute.

In town i see low 40's.

Very true. The 9 miles to work are generally uphill with an average figure of 49mpg but the 9 miles back home are generally downhill with an average figure of 62mpg. 80% of the roads travelled on are NSL or motorway, it's the town driving that really screws my average tank figures :(

My trip to work is uphill going through the local park on the way back it is maninly downhill to where SWMBO works hence the higher figure

Nope, 'setting one' takes the average since you last switched the car off for more than two hours.

Press the button on the bottom of the stalk to get to setting two which takes the average since you last manually reset it or it reached 10k miles (or something like that).

You may be getting confused with the range feature which uses your consumption over the last Xmiles to calculate how long you can go on the fuel left.

TBH, getting excited about consumption over two miles is pointless. If you were to start off and then sit at 30 for the next two miles going downhill you could get 80mpg, if you were stoping and starting, going uphill, getting stuck in traffic it could be 20mpg. nothing to do with driving style really, everything to do with the route and how busy the traffic was.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th - 60mph cruise control then go to sleep for the rest of the journey...If I do the M53, M56, M6, M5 down to Glos. I very much doubt I could achieve less that 65mpg for the journey.

Cruise control is great ! :D

my 56 vrs is averaging 53.9 now after 11k. real figure is about 46mpg. i get a projected tank range of 535 when filled up but have to fill it on the light at about 370 miles done with it showing 50 miles left - how anyone gets 500 to a tank, I don't know must be driving like girls. I regulary get 60mpg to and from work 13 miles through suburban Brum.

I got 61.2 mpg from Brighton back to London, drove 92 miles door to door, traffic was rubbish on M25 but moving at a steady 50-60mph, what a result, most days I only get 40 something MPG on my drive to work, but that does involve driving on the worlds biggest carpark the M25.
