44MPG over 2 miles

Featured Replies

My Brand new Fabia level 1 1.2 (60) has been returned by me to the dealer Biggest lot of junk since I know not what. Cheap manufacture. Not good MPG. No fuel consumption indication on Dashboard. driver seat fabric wearing after two months Not as the Tv commercial say's "full of nice things"

I keep hearing these wonderous claims for MPG but I have my doubts.

What do you expect? It's a tiny, weak, engine in a heavy car. The best fuel economy is on the 1.4 and 1.9TDi motors. That's why they're more expensive to buy.

The old-shape Fabia 1.2 I had as a loan car recently only did 35mpg, but I was using 50-75% throttle all the time to keep up with the traffic. My 130bhp Fabia vRS only just needs the throttle ticked at 1500rpm to drift along at 50mph in 6th. At that I reckon it's doing a genuine 100mpg (130mpg displayed on the wildly inaccurate display).

As for the build quality, I do think the older Fabias are better made, but the new ones are still quite acceptable for a £7000 car in my opinion.

Currently at the min we getting mid 40's in town at present, finding not filling the car up full gives a better range at present.

The best I have managed brim to brim is 59.98mpg on a 302 mile round trip mainly using the open A1 and cruising at 60mph max. Trip 1 recorded 84mpg for that journey. Overall brim to brim mpg is currently 47.35mpg over 3010 miles, with Trip 2 showing 59.3mpg. My conclusion to date is that Trip 1 and 2 figures are way out on actual figures and aren't worth quoting.

My tips for getting decent milage: keep it under 2k, under 1.5k where possible

If you can keep it around 1800-1900rpm this works out very economical (Peak Torque) and the turbo's only just 'spooling up'.

And you should give it the beans every once in a while just to clean it out;)

Thats nothing,

My vrs on a short trip gets about 20-25mpg, on a longer trip it will do nearly 40mpg. Currently average is 28mpg :o

Yeah! But you'd get there twice as fast:D

Even with a faulty PD pump on mine, i'm getting mid 50's MPG.

Diesel leaks everywhere, so i guess i still get good MPG, just doesnt last as long :(
