felicia heater motor

Featured Replies

Good morning all!!!

So here I am, with my first questions:

- I own a 97 1.3MPi Felly, and I read somewhere in this forum about different motors (135, 136), with different power outputs (BHP). How can I tell which one is mine..?

- But more important, my heater motor (I hope that the correct fan I'm talking about), the one that blow air into the car, doesn't work at all. No sign of life at all. I can feel heating while driving at 50-60 MPH, which let me think that the heater works. I checked the fusebox, everything is OK. I checked the voltage directly to the motor, and I have a 12 volts reading. (I assume that the correct motor, the one in the black plactic box just under the windscreen, next to the battery)

So I guess the motor is blown...

But, I'd like to know something... When I took the cover off the heater motor, I noticed a broken small spring on the back, but can't say if it was originally there or not, and to what it could be attached, on the other end...

I just quickly open the box to see the inside, but will investigate further during this DIY weekend!!! ^^

If anyone can confirm me that the motor is blown, or if I have to check something else, it will be helpful!

(Hope my english is clear enough, I'm french...)

Hiya.

Check that you don't get the blower running on any setting. If you can get it on even one setting, it's the switch and not the motor that's gone.

Next I'd check the motor earth connection at both ends (measuring voltage at the feed means you supply a new path).

If neither of these tests reveal a failure, then yes it's the motor.

Spray WD40 onto the motor connections under the plastic cover and see if that gets it going.

They do go after 10 years or so. The one in my Favorit which was going on 10+ went, and my current Felicia is nearly 10 years old, and that makes a squeal sometimes. Just spray some WD40 as anewman says, should do the trick.

Thanks for all those suggestions! I'll try them this WE, and let you know about... ;)
