No suspension upgrade available for the Furby vRS

Featured Replies

Or thats what Jabba told me today

"It only lists TDI - sorry"

Must say I'm disappointed with that response................ :thumbdwn:

Ummmmmmmm - Ninja_Alex just organised an Eibach springs and dampers group buy which I thought included the Furby vRS? :D

Chris

Ive got Fabia TDi Springs and adjustable Koni dampers for the Ibiza TDi Sport.

Work very well ta :)

Graeme has got specific vRS springs iirc.

Perhaps it was just the person I spoke to?

She was adamant though, even when I pointed out that AMD sold them, she kept saying "sorry its not listed"

Ho hum ........

That would be Carol. I dont know what Graeme has fitted, and as Ross has said he has a hybrid suspension. Perhaps there really isnt one, and the only way to go is try a hybrid setup.

Very strange. I bought a set of vRS specific Eibachs from Jabba myself only three weeks ago. After a ring round the usual suspects, Jabba were cheapest by the way...

I'm in the process of clarifying this all for you guys.

rsbspt,

can you PM me details of the suspension kit you got and your full name.

No probs.....just need all the information I can get first so I can clarify the situation.

Many thanks.

Adrian.

Sure did :D

To clarify...Eibach do have a springing kit for the Fabia RS.

Jabba don't have the latest catalogue but have called Eibach to clarify.

Costs

Yep. Eibach do have a specific kit for the vRS. I have them on mine. Very stiff, but great fun and not much body roll. Lowers by 25mm too. :D

what is it better to have just springs or springs and shocks or is there not alotta difference

IMHO springs alone with the already uprated vRS standard shocks will suffice. Further uprated dampers will only make the ride even stiffer but won't do much more to imporve the hadling I suspect.

I'd disagree having driven both.

Just having lowered springs is a big improvement over standard, but mine with the adjustable Konis is no stiffer (or doesnt have to be) but feels much more planted and sticks to the road much better especially on undulating (sp?) roads where lowering springs and std dampers can loose control a bit and start to bounce.

There seem to be differing opinions on the just springs vs. springs and shocks options, I'm a bit confused. Lowering one way or another is definitely something I am looking to do in the next few months to improve looks and handling, however I'm not exactly minted. What sort of cost would I be looking at (fitted) for just springs vs. springs and shocks (don't have to be adjustable really). Some people say that just springs will wreck the standard shocks in short order, but perhaps this would not be the case with the already somewhat uprated furby vRS shocks? I've also heard the comment that lowering using jsut springs might actually make the handling worse! I guess there could be the option of springing only first then adding uprated shocks at a later date..

Any thoughts?

Duncan

Recent group buy (thanks Ninja_Alex  ) was Eibach springs and dampers for

I'm sure if money's no object you can get the perfect solution. But on an improvement per

I am tempted to go for the springs only approach, I imagine I'm looking at 200-250 including fitting. Then, if the ride proves too hard (I also am on 205/40/17s now) or my existing shocks die, to go for different shocks in the future.

You might want to try H&R springs - supposed to be very good with standard shocks, quite a few Golf owners say they actually improve the ride!

I just had Octy vRS wheels fitted (wonder who gave me that idea?? ) and the place I got them done sell H&R stuff, they were of the opinion that a 30mm drop on H&R springs alone would be fine. Hmm... Decisions, decisions.

For those interested, the vRS Eibach springs are part No - 10-79-001-05-22

Where did you go? your not a million miles away from me are you? do they do H&R for the vRS?

When I looked about for mine H+R didnt do springs for the TDi Fabia iirc.

I was in Leeds at the time as I'm working there during the week, at a place called Motorsport wheels. They have a branch in Manchester too. According to the H&R catalogue, they have -30mm springs for the vRS.
