Hello all,

This is my first post, having just bought an '05 Fabia 1.4tdi Bohemia Estate which I'm very happy with. As part of the deal, I asked the dealer (small independent) to change the cambelt before I bought the car. They say it's been done, and the service book is stamped to that effect, but is there anyway of knowing for sure? Call me suspicuous but you hear horror stories about some garages...

I've had a look under the cambelt cover, the belt looks fairly new and is marked 'Gates Powergrip HTD'. I'm presuming therefore that this is a new belt as I would guess the original would be VAG?

Also, I guess there is no actual way of knowing if the tensioners were changed at the same time?

I always used to have the thought in the back of my mind about cambelts...

Whats the mileage?

I know I'm beig paranoid.

The mileage is 61000. Quite high for a three year old car I know but it meant I got it cheaper! Full Skoda service history apart from the last one done when I bought it.

Overall condition is excellent. And the mpg is great.

Sounds like a good car to me mate.
