hey gus i have a skoda felicia 1.3 lx 97 i had changed the timing chain also the distributer after that while i was returning home suddenly the oil lamp starts to blink when i am at low idle rpm 800 rpm when i acclerate the lamp goes off ..

i do not know what happend the car was fine before changing the timing chain and the distributer

many people think it is the oil pressure sensor .

how do i know if it was the oil pump pressure is week ????:confused::confused:

:)This often happens after completing a timing chain job...it's probably a small amount of muck in the oil pump/oil pressue valve. You'll most likely find that the fault dissapears. Silly thing to say maybe, but I assume you used the right oil and there is enough of it!

I agree with above, don't worry about it mine does this from time to time after being on the A1 for a while and coming off the sliproad to a queue where car is idleing

This happened a lot in older cars, but that does not mean that newer cars will not suffer in a similar fashion. As the oil pressure sensor becomes contaminated over time, it requires a greater pressure than it should to turn off the warning light. As the engine becomes hot, the oil becomes thinner and therefore the pressure is lower. This does not mean that it is too low, because the engine is designed to run at the pressure which the oil exerts at that higher temperature. However, the faulty pressure switch indicates low pressure because it is contaminated. As you rev the engine, the pressure rises sufficiently to overcome the faulty switch. It seems to me you have three options. You can ignore it, you can buy and fit a new switch (probably both inexpensive and easy to do), or you can stick a postage stamp over that bit of the instrument dial. I know which one I'd choose - a new switch.

I've seen this before too, pretty much as Dave describes (and on other makes too). If it really bothers you, replace the oil pressure sender on the block. Otherwise, particularly since you live in Egypt, just check the oil level regularly, but don't over-fill it!
