Passenger side door rattle - Octy VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My 2006 TFSI VRs has developed a door rattle on the passenger side, its internal to the door and most obvious when going over small, frequest bumps like coblles.

Sounds like the window winder mech has a bolt loose.

Anyone else had this?

Cheers

Ron

Some time ago I noticed a weak rattling sound when driving. I was absolutely sure, that it originated from the front passenger side door. However my wife insisted that the rattling sound came from the drivers (my) side of the car.

I had a look in this wonderfull forum (Briskoda), and I believe that most of the "door rattle threads" are concerning the passenger side door.

Questioning myself why my wife and I can´t agree on which side AND why the most threads are concerning on the "passenger front door", I came up with this:

The rattling sound is originating from the center of the car (between drivers and front passenger side). The afore mentioned threads are probably written by people driving alone in their cars, therefore they have the exact same belief (sound coming from passenger side).

Questioning myself again, what is in the center of my car, AND can produce a rattling sound, I looked at the roof sunglass box........ HEUREKA!!

Whether or not you have your sunglasses in the box, the lid occasionnally rattles, and the sound is exactly as if something is wrong with the window/side door.

Lessons learned: If you are troubled with a rattling noise from the side door AND your car has a roof sunglass box, check that box before you tear the door apart.

Hi

I had the same rattle wanted to take a hammer to it but as it was under warranty took it back to the dealer .

It turned out to be one of the sections of the door card that had split on the inside they were going to glue it back together but in the end fitted a new door card rattle gone and hammer returned to its nice red roll cab home.

Hope this helps Whoosh:thumbup:

I looked at the roof sunglass box........ HEUREKA!!

Did you find a way of fixing it?

i had the same, was told it was the back off the pop rivet they used for the window regulator, but funnily enough the rattle has returned, so i'll be mentioning it when it goes in for its service shortly
