  1. Hello, What all season lyres would people recommend for a FWD 170DSG Superb. Located in IRL so don't' need the full snow tyre. Want something non summer i can leave on all year round. Regards, GT
  2. It has two important features missing from its predecessor the DNX521DAB that being voice control and bluetooth audio streaming. Think i'll put my DNX520DAB on the market
  3. hope it has a twin boot...would miss that
  4. For the TMC activation you need to first get a code from the DNX521DAB (sorry I forget how think it is in the Garmin menu) then you ring Garmin UK quoting this code and they will give you back an activation code which you then enter into the head unit to unlock TMC. I don't think you can add or backup PoIs on this unit as it appears to be pretty locked down to prevent the use of hot maps. Upgrading of the overall firmware (DNX & Garmin) is done using the rear USB port and a blank USB key. As another poster has said route the USB cable out through the glove box so you have access to it. As far as I know map updates are either via microSD port or DVD but not USB. I would consider firmware updates to the Kenwood to be very flakey an usually when they fix one bug they create two other ones. One previous firmware update killed bluetooth for me and Kenwood support said I had to send the unit back so I asked them for downgrade firmware and as i didn't fancy a hole in my dash for 2-3 weeks, the Kenwood technician asked me to hold tight and low and behold a week or so later there was a firmware upgrade for my unit with no need to send back... Below is firmware update link & instructions for latest version which has proven stable for me. http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2012/2012b/eng.html DNX521DAB is physically a nice unit with a reasonable feature set but lack of bluetooth streaming is unforgivable as is lack of voice dialling. The garmin interface is good but the rest of the DNX interface is so dinky and small as to be unsafe to use while driving in my opinion.....to much "sexy" look and not enough "ease of use"
  5. Hmmm my Superb is only a month old so i wonder do they have the bong for different markets or different car kits. Will annoy my friendly Skoda Dealer
  6. When a bluetoooth phone connects to a Columbus head unit an audible bong is emitted followed by 10 seconds of bloody silence as the speakers are muted just in case you didn't hear the bong or notice the screen announcement. Anyone know if there is a way of getting rid of the bong altogether or reducing the pause after the bong as it is ****ing me off big time.
  7. Definitely not on the FL Superb as I have one and it came with the existing RNS510 which was a bit of a ****er.
  8. I see Navteq allow free download of map updates for the MIB Columbus whatever that is... Is this a completely new head unit? Or is it a totally new OS for the existing RNS510 head unit? Here's the link. http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site/es_GB/-/GBP/View-Promo?&cwt=application/ApplicationFrame_campaign_light&&Page=Skoda-Landing-Page-MIB-Columbus&&NewDomainName=Navteq-NavteqEurope-Site&
  9. Oooops ended up with a 170 DSG again...darn.
  10. Hello, Anyone know if the Columbus in the face-lift Superb is a completely new model or just a total OS overhaul? Regards, GT
  11. @ Supurbia : All the new facelift Superb models are GreenTec and so include start/stop and energy recooperation which I believe is the same as Bluemotion...anyway VWs cars are overpriced in IRLi @ barts2 : Mine is a DSG that's why tax is higher although because of greentec tax on a facelife 170 DSG falls to €280 from €570
  12. Heart says no but head says yes. Have a caddy maxi combi with same engine and gearbox and its quite OK to drive Also €180 to tax not €570, 4.6l per 100km not 6.2 and less fecking VRT too With juice prices only going one way i wanna be a hypermiler Anyway 170 horsies just make one act the bollix too much....also extra kid and over 40 since last purchase
  13. Hello Anyone know when the facelift superb will be available to order with the 1.6 diesel mated to the 7-speed DSG ? Regards GT
  14. Anyone got a link to the CO2 figures for refresh?
  15. Hello The mare pushed a CD into my Columbus head unit which already had a DVD loaded....so now it is jammed and won't eject. CD appears to be pretty far in. Anyone know if is is easily solved or will the head unit need to be removed and dismantled. Where do I start? Regards GT
