2006 MK1 Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

I'm not really doing this. It's all a bad dream.

Anyway, I'm not far off trading in the old girl for a Honda FRV. I've been offered £3800 in a deal and am going to go with that. I can't get to sort it in the next couple of weeks due to family and work commitments. If anyone on here would like the car then there's a bit of time.

The car is in good condition. I've cared for it over the last six and a bit years and never, ever intended to sell it. It's been kept up to with only genuine Skoda bits being used. It's on variable servicing and has about 6 to 8k before the light comes on again. I've had the remap removed due to wanting it to be standard when I trade it in. There is a Whiteline arb on at the moment which is going to be taken off too. I've put the original head unit back, although there is a Becker unit that I've had in for a few years.

I'm not going to bore you with loads of info as a few people on here know the car anyway as it is one of the last. I've put the most recent photos on and if anyone's interested let me know.

I've sorted the central locking issue, figure out why the Symphony head unit wouldn't work- a fuse  - and have even got close to taking the back seats out of the spare bedroom. They have been up there, wrapped in plastic for about five years as I didn't want the kids anywhere near them.

I'm not in this to make huge money out of anyone, but if you fancy a decent vRS that's in good nick this might be the car for you.

The car was registered to me in March 2006 and the mileage is just under 59k as it's used every day. It's taxed and MOTd 'till March 2013, just had new Pagid discs and pads all round and I've got all the receipts, discs and MOTs.

Le me know what you think,

Andrew.

p.s. The three year old isn't in the deal, although she's been a bit of a pain right now.....

Hi, where abouts are you?

Was just wondering if you would be interesed in a swop of my Fabia VRS 2005 60,000mls.iv been offered £3,800.

To trade in, instead of your lovely Octy, yours is far to nice to give to a garage at that price.!!!!

Cheers carlos

If you had a 2005 Honda FRV with heated leather and privacy glass, I'd say yes! I need something bigger for the three children I'm afraid. It looks like it will be sooner rather than later anyway now as the dealer I'm talking to is open tomorrow.

It is crazy what they offer though, but to them it's just a second hand Skoda.

Hi, was wondering where are you Trading your Octy in? if you dont mind me asking.

Because i would really like your's, and it would have a really good home with me..

Seems a shame to give it to a Stealer/Dealer.

It's going tomorrow to a dealer in Cambridgeshire. You'd have to be very quick to get it now. It's all prepped, cleaned and back to standard and ready to go. If you do want the car, we're going to have to do some pretty fancy footwork. I'm open to suggestions though, as it hasn't gone yet.

I'm leaving at 7:30am to do the deal by the way and I live in Scarborough. Is this of any use?

thanx for replying ,,it would take me a day or two to sort out the outstanding finance on my mongrel ,,as much as i would love your car ..i'll have to let you go to cambridge and (give) it away ..thanks and hope you like the new motor

Gutted for you mate.. but TBF £3800 isn't awful

Will you be selling the whiteline separately?

Yep, I've a few bits that'll be going up for sale soon. It may take a few days as I'm currently in mourning and feel like I've done totally the wrong thing. :'(

As much as it feels wrong.. all for the right reasons though.

I'm feeling the same about putting mine up for swaps.

I guess you're right. The thing is though, after six and a bit years, I'd become very fond of the car. It brought all three of our children home from hospital when they were born, took us all over the country, always got us where we needed to go and never, ever let us down. It feels a bit like betrayal, even though in theory it's just a car.

What are you thinking of getting instead?

Edited by skinnyman

which dealer did you sell it to?

Thanks. Was hoping the dealer was local to you and therefore me.

Not much of a mark up if you sold it for 3800 especially after eBay fees etc.

This was a different deal to the £3800. That was on a car in S****horpe which was up for a lot more money. I got about £3200 for the vRS in the end, which still means he's not making huge amounts of profit from my car.

edit, Don't know why Scun thorpe is such a bad place it needs to be bleeped out!. Penistone makes it through the filter okay!

Hi,

I hate to ask but was the car ok when you sold it, any faults? Any thing you know will need doing in the short term?

Thanks

Keith

Engine wise, there's no issues. Bodywork is fine as I had some dings removed a few months back, It has a few age related marks, but nothing major. Interior is okay, it's been used by a family for six years, but it's better than a lot I've seen. The photos on his website show the condition of the seats.

I reckon that as it's approaching 60k miles, some bushes might need looking at in the not too distant future. This is because I'm picky. It didn't have any rattles, squeaks or knocks at all and felt very tight when I handed it over. I'm assuming that there haven't been any test pilots since, but that's out of my hands. It's a good solid car with no major issues and should serve someone very well.

Don't worry about asking, I don't mind now. The Honda is a very good car, is very well put together and makes the Skoda build quality look a bit below par. Having said that, I loved my Skoda and will never feel the same way about the FRV. It's more like a white good with nothing good, nothing bad to say. It does the job and does it well, but I don't have lone last look when I walk away from it in a car park.

Thanks :)

I've cheekily told the seller I know how much he paid for it and asked if will he adjust his price :)

P.S. Do you still have the remap?

Edit to add, it's already sold at asking!

Hmm. I'll be interested to see if it's anyone on here. It'd be nice to keep tabs on the car for a bit.

Getting the train up monday and looking forward to the drive back!
