....called in at my local stealer today to see if there was a Bluetooth phone kit available for the Bolaro radio and a MFSW with phone buttons and was told " there isn't one, factory fit only "

Right or Wrong?

There isn't one that we can retro fit other than the Bury kit which quite frankly is crud.

Wrong, get a OEM kit off Ebay and get it fitted and coded.

As I said from a dealer point of view we don't offer it. The above kit is not an approved retro fit kit. So fitting in invalidates warranty.

So would fitting a Bury invalidate warranty? Either by a dealer or otherwise?

No because the Bury kit on our accessory catalogue is an approved item.

As long as its the kit bought from Skoda it's all good.

If its fitted on a car at PDi by the dealer you would also get 3 years warranty on it iirc.

That however doesn't change my personal opinion that it's not particularly good. Phone etc works fine and the screen looks quite good, but I'd want audio playback on it and tbh that's terrible.

So fitting a genuine VAG Bluetooth kit would invalidate my warranty?

A genuine Skoda approved kit wouldn't no.

I've seen a few posts about warranty and fitting accessories.

Maybe there's a change to the warranty, but the current warranty booklet does not say anywhere that you can't fit non approved accessories without voiding your warranty. It says this:

If you have modified the vehicle with the addition of
accessories or other equipment, you may be charged
for the removal of such equipment if so required to
effect a repair.

There are other bits that cover fitting non approved replacement parts and non standard software and so on but that says specifically replacement.. Now that statement above is fair enough, and I believe is now law in any case.

So what in the warranty says I can't add non approved parts without voiding the warranty?

Incidentally, there's also nothing in the Ts and Cs about the Columbus unit not being fully covered for the full term of the warranty including extension. I've seen many posts saying it isn't covered? Is this another change, or a myth?

I've installed the kit from carsystems.pl uses OEM kit, I wouldn't expect Skoda to cover that under warranty, but would expect them to cover the rest of the car. Likewise I won't expect them to cover my Columbus that I have retro-fitted. However if there is a speaker issue - I would expect that covered as the Columbus is a standard unit that they offer as a factory fit.

The OEM kit does integrate very well with the standard factory fit head units.

My thoughts entirely, having read the Ts and Cs.

Where did you fit the MDI box itself? I want to put it in the OEM place under the console, but carsystems don't seem to sell the OEM bracket

Didn't install the MDI box, if you mean the BT Module I installed that under the passenger seat using the Velcro foam cover that comes with it. I covered mine with some black ICE carpet that I had floating round the garage to hide it if the passenger seat is slid all the way back.
