  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

Be interesting I think to see what motors end up powering the vRS. I'd be inclined to think that it'll probably end up with Audi's new 1.8 180ps motor initially, maybe the 150ps diesel too; same as what the Leon FR has been launched with.

The car will be lighter and more aerodynamic so should provide v similar levels of performance to the existing models with way better fuel economy and emissions.

The 2.0 TSI and more powerful TDI engine will be reserved for VW Audi use I think but would be great if it ended up with the 220ps and 181ps petrol and diesel engines.

Definitely won't be 4wd though

....On note of the above, Car Magazine got a quattro equipped 1.8 TFSi A3 to do 0-60 in 6.7 seconds; I'd imagine that engine in the Octavia would produce v similar results

Front wheel drive, 2.0TSI 220BHP.

Yep, I reckon thats going to be it. Of more interest to me will be the Scout version probably, possibly with that 1.8TSi unit? :)

Read the auto express article on the A3 with the above engine and they said it didnt feel that fast. 6.7 to 60 is fast in my book so not sure what they mean. Im more interested in the 1.4 with cylinder deactivation. This in a scout could be good as long as it had enough grunt.

The new 148bhp diesel seems very good though so its hard to justify the petrols TBH unless going for all out performance.

Think the new VRS will have 220bhp and only FWD. An AWD option on a VRS would be nice though and is probably something i would consider seeing as the roads are damp up here more often than they are dry.

I never thought i would notice wheel spin more than i did in my BMW but the FWD VRS has no where near the wet traction the beemer had. The VRS seems to light up its fronts quite easily. Makes pulling out of wet junctions into tight spaces quite tricky where my old BMW was a lot more planted.

There will be 1,8TSI (180bhp) 4x4 for Scout and 2,0TSI (220bhp) FWD for RS. Diesel Scout will have 2,0TDI (185bhp). And if I'm correct then diesel-RS will have the same engine but FWD...

That's nuts if that's true. It would make more sense to go for a lower model with 4WD and map it if you wanted to.

I was chatting to a salesman in my local dealership the other week who had heard of a 3.0 litre going into the diesel vRS. I take that with a large pinch of salt, but if they do do that then I reckon they might offer two diesel options at different power outputs.

I very much doubt they will reduce the power to either petrol or diesel vRS cars. The mark III is set to be bigger and likely heavier, reducing the power isn't going to convince current owners to upgrade.

Dan

None of you know what engine/Spec the VRS will be.

Lets wait and find out

+1

Just heard from a top secret source there will be a VRS-R with same spec engine as used in the 227mph Skoda.

Not that top secret then if they've told you!!

Can't see Skoda doing uber-sports models like Audi do

I can see it being a 2ltr 210/220bhp FWD

I really dont know from where Your local salesman get their information but with all do respect this is really utter bs. There will be no 3 litre diesel in near future and new 2-litre engine is all it ever gets. If You think about it then c'mon... Octavia is sister-car to Golf and Leon. And it makes no sense to give Octavia 3-litre diesel. That woud be total overkill.

To assume that nobody knows about the engine options of the car which will be released early next year.... Do not be so naive and arrogant please (no offence ofcourse :) ). I'm not making this up from internet and I'm 100% sure what I'm talking about. Btw. Scout will be released early 2014 and RS 2nd half of 2013.

I'm saying you don't know. It may be realised 2nd half of 2013 but no one on here knows you are all guessing.

Go on then Mr Know it all give the exact engines that will be available in the 2nd half of 2013 Skoda Octavia VRS.

Just looked on the Internet and the engine for the 2nd half of 2013 Octavia vrs has been announced. It's the 552bhp twin turbo V8 from the RS6. Sadly it's only FWD the 4x4 doesn't hit the streets until sometime in 2014. Will be awesome.

3.0 tdi might be a nice addition to the Superb lineup, wishful thinking?

would it not just follow the golf gti, as it has done the last few models?

Are we just trying to be funny and sarcastic? Couple of posts back I gave You exact engines for both RS and Scout. For You specially I write them again here so You can take notes:

RS: 2,0/162kw petrol and 2,0TDI/135kw

Scout: 2,0TDI/135kw 4x4

3.0 tdi might be a nice addition to the Superb lineup, wishful thinking?

Probably not with eminent facelift model but maybe for next generation. And this is my personal speculation :)

Hmm, the benefit of the new platform is that the cars are much lighter, not heavier. So hence the bigger size I guess it will be same weight (or a bit lighter) than the current model range.

Having had three Octavia TDi vRS models prior to my current Yeti the ideal car for me would be a vRS 4x4 ... however a 180(ish) bhp Scout TDi would be a very nice alternative!
