vRS with remap/tuning box. Any DSG issues?

Featured Replies

I have traded my 1.2 TSi DSG for a 1.8TSi DSG Octavia. I ran a TMC box on it with great success and am looking at getting the box reprogrammed and a new harness to put it on my Octy. This will take the torque figure from 250NM to 300NM (on paper). Has anybody had any issues with the DSG box on a tuned vRS? Thanks

Might be better going to octavia forum. Because if its 6 speed it will take it no bother as 7 speed is rated to take a max so far of about 300nm (i think). I wouldnt worry too much on either as they have their own cpu so would limit the torque themselves if it got too high

Post up the source which states 300nm as the limit please.

The VW bulletin states that the 7spd Dsg (dry) box as found in the Fabia vRS and Octavia 1.8TSI etc is used with engines running upto 250nm. For outputs more than 250nm they use the 6spd DSG (dry) box. That doesn't mean the 7spd is rated at 250nm maximum.

FWIW mine is running fine at 365nm and mine still doesn't limit the torque so its fine.

Well i dont have a source if anything i was waiting for you to turn up and put me right. Wow at 365nm it still doesnt try and limit it.

I know someone who has run a TMC box (on 9) on the fabia vRS for some time now, including using it on track, and there is no DSG issues at all :)

Many thanks for your responses. I assumed it was ok but wanted some comfort from hearing from those who had done it! and 365nm out of a vRS Fab, wow!!

Could you let us know as well how easy the reprogramming process Is when you have it done as I'm sure other members as well as myself would like to know.

The 7 speed dry clutched box is designed to last 400,000 Km with the 250 Nm of torque.

The box has shown it can run at 380 Nm in competition but the lifetime at this level is unknown but the lifetime is usually shortening more than pro-rata, usually as a square or cube of the percentage increase in torque put through it.

It is a great box matched with the 1.8 TSI and 1.4 twin charge and quite capable of running 300 Nm and therefore well over 200 hp and is cheap to run as does not require expensive 60K Km oil changes plus.
