and what about non-uk track action

Featured Replies

hi

just wondering if any of you have experience with tracking abroad. especially Belgium's Spa, but also Netherlands and France?

did you just drive over or dis you go through an org?

do you think it is feasible to drive off early in the morning and track it the same day?

I've done the nurburgring for the last 14 years plus visits to spa and folembry in France. Combining foreign travel with track action is great but make sure your car is upto the job as a breakdown or accident will turn it into a nightmare. I had to leave my car in Germany and fly home after a major breakdown. Jason (tdifurby) also had a similar experience at the ring.

You can book track days in any country you like just google.

At the ring just turn up and pay for a lap or 10 and off you go. Just check its open first.

thanks for the update

spa and ring would be too taxing, both for the car and for the wallet. but i know of Clastres and Folembray.

How did you find the track staff? is it safe? how are lunatics and rookys dealt with?

Do you think it's feasible to start from the UK in the morning and track the same day?

Folembray is a lovely little privately owned track that I did many years ago with the Performance bike magazine testers and writers along with a small group of bikers. The day was very informal as we even drove the track anti clockwise as well as clockwise. All the attendees were British and every one behaved impeccably lol!

The track staff left us to it basically so can't say much about them.

If you live in the south east of the uk northern france tracks should be in range for you. I'd splash out on over night accomodation though.

watching some youtube and indeed, marshalls not really prominent.

maybe if i go through a club or organisation?

any recommendations?

Check out the Trackday companies they do organise trips across the water. Croix enTernois is another family owned track about 1 hr. from Calais

A bit further afield but Pau Arnos, SW France next to the Pyrenees, fantastic track very friendly and regular trackdays where you can turn up and pay (no club membership needed) I use it a lot as it's up the road from me - good to take in as part of a holiday if it was down here.
