You can control the iphone's music from the car?

Don't you need a specific cable to use an iPod? I.e. a standard USB cable won't work but it needs to be a combined USB and Aux lead similar to this - http://www.ebay.co.u...e-/261076586322

I got this cable today and it works (woohoo!)...

... BUT, the sound quality is apalling. Does anyone else who had this part share the same opinion? I am wondering whether it's because it's a cheap cable and whether the proper SEAT part will be better?

I know I have a problem with my ipod where it only plays through one channel unless you play with the aux bit of the cable, but even when I can get it paying through both channels the quality is poor with this cable.

So, I ordered an official SEAT cable so I can compare. Expensive, but it will be worth it if the audio quality is better.

In the mean time I was listening to a podcast using the MDI today and was thinking it was annoying that you can't pause it from the car when you turn the radio off/take the keys out the ignition but I found out it does it for you - also when you put the car in reverse and the radio volume goes quiet. Nice touch :)

I just had a look at the cost of the official SEAT cable..... HOLY MOLY!

If anyone finds an OEM cable that works (or a heavily discounted price on the SEAT cable :giggle: ) can they let me know? ;)

I think for now I might revert to sticking a load of mp3s on a USB stick or burning to CD!

Thecko, I've got the fake one from ebay going spare if you want it? As I said, it does work but find the audio quality better on the SEAT one.

How much do you want for it?

You can have it if you like, saves the hassle of relisting it, just PM me your address and I'll stick it in the post.

Cheers!

Just been playing with the infotainment system on my Octy 3 which has the same aux and USB connections, tried the iPhone using the apple cable to power it and an old 3.5 mm cable from the earphone jack to the aux connector.... And it sounded very good better than Bluetooth streaming, I won't use it often like this as I use the SD card but surprised by how good it sounded
