Blyton Park

Featured Replies

Blyton Park is near Scunthorpe, apparently you can hire the whole circuit for about £180 for half a day and that is for as many cars as you want to take, I am going to call to find out if this is the case.

As with all things reasonably priced I have been told there is a catch, only two cars are allowed on track at any one time, so I was thinking of maybe starting a meet thread, depending on interest this is the idea.

Depending on how many cars go we all have a short stint to learn the track and set a time, then like in a velodrome (where push bikes are used) we start two cars on track, one on the start finish line the other exactly half way around, then have a five lap pursuit race. The cars would be matched from the lap times set in the first laps done.

If we get 10 cars it will be £36 each if we get more it will be less.

What do you think and would you be interested in taking part or do you have a better idea for only two cars on track?

Its only 80 quid for day some if you book early

Its ok for a beginner aswell as there is plenty of run off if you get it wrong

Might be easier to get numbers if its a VAG day as when my mate organised it he needed 38 cars which sounds alot but for day actually isn't

I have emailed the guy and asked for more information on what events we can do and when, I am looking at August or September as we have Castle Coombe next weekend and How Fast on 1st June.

I use to go years ago with scoobynet before it changed hands. Was an excellent and extremely cheap day.

I could be interested :)

£180 for exclusive use of the track for the full day sounds ridiculously cheap, bearing in mind they have to have admin staff, safety staff, first aid

I'm not saying you're wrong, just suggesting it might be worth double-checking the price

It is very cheap, I have a mate with a Lotus 41, he took it to Blyton for half a day testing, he paid £175, my original post says about £360 for a full day, divided between 10 is £36.

Since my first post I have emailed a guy at Blyton and he says this rate is only for testing racing cars and is not available to road cars.

However his track day rates are good, approx £80 for a track day at Blyton, when I get the full list of dates available and prices I will post it up.

So you are correct Brimma, it was too cheap to be true for road cars but if you have a race car that is the correct price for testing sessions.

If you look on the Blyton website, they will do a single Marque day and offer discounts, I am waiting for this email to come back. This will have nothing to do with Javelin.

Are you interested in going?

I looked at their site before and noticed it was for none road cars.

Testing or full day bookings are for none road cars, however they do host standard road car track days.

I'm interested if its later on in the year. :)

Looking at September for a Saturday or Sunday

That would depend when it is, and how I respond to the treatment I'm due to be starting soon

It would be great if I could, as it's only about 20 miles from me :)

I am hoping to get it booked for September, I will keep this updated.

Hope your treatment goes well too.

Bare in mind the other Briskoda visit to Castle Combe is on Saturday 14th September.

Thanks Richard, I will avoid this date, August is out too because of holidays, might end up in October.

Hope your treatment goes well too.

Thanks, much appreciated :)

I would be up for this in October!

I have had an email back from Richard at Blyton, I have to call him on Monday to discuss what we want and on what dates.

Anybody interested please shout up what you want from a day at the track so I can discuss it with him on Monday.

A taylor made track day for Brisky, can't be bad.

I'm up for a private trackday but don't mind.

Not exactly local, but I'd be up for this.

Last year the second (later) Briskoda how fast had a very poor turn out, maybe try this instead?

Having Castle Combe, How Fast and this within a month may be a bit much for the Briskoda Track regulars.

Maybe a bit close together, lets see what the man has to say on Monday.

Now off the Cadwell Park tomorrow to watch the HSCC. Anybody off here going?

I have spoken to Richard today, he is happy for us to hire Blyton Park for the day for a Skoda only track event. He has weekends available in November at the earliest or we can wait until next year, or we can book mid week and get a huge discount. He is sending me exact prices and terms and conditions.

The below info is for 45 attendees.

We can do a full day at Blyton on a weekend, with Marshalls, medics and use of the garage etc for £115 each. inc VAT.

If we do Monday to Friday this drops to £68 with the same as above.

We can have any format we want, open pit lane, grouped by ability, sprint event or anything we can think of.

Blyton has no barriers to crash into, it is surrounded by fields, it has recently been re-surfaced and can be run in a few different ways, chicanes in, or not, short circuit or long etc.

So, once I get the exact information from him, I will post exact figures and see how much interest we get for a Briskoda track day.

Do you think 45 people is ambitious?
