Hire Car Reviews

Featured Replies

Good morning folks,

I quite often have to make journeys in hire cars. I always like to check them out and review them so I thought I should document some of my thoughts. If you do have a spare minute or two and would like to read my thoughts on cars like the Galaxy, 207 and Astra, then please follow the link below. I will continue to update the blog as and when - 2 cars a month generally.

Thanks for looking.

Updated recently to include Ford Focus, Audi A3 & Seat Leon reviews.

Well my Brother-In-Law is over at the moment from Canada and he has an Octavia III 1.6CR DSG - just has  a TDi badge on the rear so not sure what trim level it is.

Very nice - the display on the Bolero is very crisp - not too shabby, also has MaxiDot - but no flappy paddles for the DSG.

Not sure I will be swapping my FL petrol vRS for a Mark II version in a hurry though - will try the dealers one the next time I am there though.

He did bemoan the lack of CC in his Hire car and as they don't leave the manuals in the car had to find the PDF online to tell him how to disable the start-stop tech which he doesn't like.

I liked the Leon. It seemed well built and I particularly liked the dash design and layout. The new 3 door version is a corker to look at too.

I really liked the Mercedes B Class diesel I had recently. 7 speed dsg style with paddles and handled well. Quick too.

I like hire cars. Providing you've no points on your license, you're free to explore the performance envelope at every opportunity without ever feeling guilty
