Confused.

Featured Replies

I know, not difficult.

Dewi is on variable servicing and so far has been to be operated on at 18,000, 36,000 and 55,000 miles, so I was expecting the next to be around the 72,000 mile mark. However having only done just under 65,000 I'm NOW getting the message that he's due a service in 600 miles. Nothing has changed in my journeys or useage, so I'm wondering why?

I think a phone call to the dealer later.

Edit to correct spelling error

I strongly suspect that the "technician" reset the the service indicator using the column stalk rather than his disgnostic computer, since this has the side effect of putting the car onto fixed service.

Agree with the above comment, has to be set with the service computer.

...........................And here I was thinking that Graham was going to talk to us about price comparison websites :giggle:

Mine was done, probably accidentally, by the service department and i noticed it has switched to fixed rather than variable.

I'll have to get them to sort it out at some point.

Most dealers seem to want to set the service interval to annual fixed rather than the variable.

Accidentally :giggle:

Can't blame them for trying!

yep,

young lady at dealers tried to "strongly suggest" my fabia should be on fixed at the weekend to get a second service in before the end of 30,000 free service and I had to reject the offer a number of times before she relented

I did the numbers and on my driving pattern fixed makes no sense, have calculated on paying for 2 Variable services in the costs of the car over the life of the contract

and also got the "fabia's should not be on variable" line, informed her master tech had check it as it had the Q16 code on config sticker so can be set on variable

they want you in as many times as possible for their £60+ / hour labour charges, I want to reduce the number of hours I pay at that rate, and the 40 minutes after the car was parked in the car park before I got my keys back

Even funnier when you do 18k in 4 months and they try it on

Surely you'd have to do another 6400 miles before that message appears

I'm confused. If it is not due a service in 600 miles then what is the problem?

P.S. NOW no longer confused. :)

I think Graham meant to type 'I'm now getting' instead of 'I'm not getting' - he did say he was confused :giggle:

Accidentally :giggle:

well benefit of the doubt and all that.

They did the long life service, i assume they just reset it via the MFD lazy boy style.

A thought.

When is the cam belt due to be changed?

A thought.

When is the cam belt due to be changed?

All is explained in the service book - dependent on the model of course.

I've already highlighted the Haldex drain and re-fill plugs ready for the three year oil change while I was under the car the other day :giggle:

Problem is Gerry, car is outside and I can't leave the signal box!!

Haldex was done on the last service.

Are you doing the BORC rounds this year? See they are doing Ceri/Kerry on one round.

Llanigraham, "Signalbox"? Which one might that be? :hi:

Bromfield, on the outskirts of Ludlow.

Why?

Ex signaller Pinxton, Kirkby Summit (Robin Hood), Derby PSB now with data collection services (test trains) looking after the yellow MPV. Nice to meet your acquaintance

Don't know the MPV, but we did have the "Yellow Banana" passed last week!

Do pop in if you are ever around; kettles on!

It does high definition S&C video inspection. Same here at Trent House, Derby if you're ever in the area :bandit:

Back on topic.

Rang the garage today as it went to "Service due NOW" yesterday and they say they accidently reset the car to "fixed" servicing. Told to ignore it and get it serviced around the expected time and that if I'm in the area to pop in and they will correctly reset it.

Happy now. :sun:

Yup, back on topic (a hazelnut in every bite) my yeti should be at the dealer's tmr for me to view, excited isn't half of it :giggle:
