egr delete problem

Featured Replies

I got my egr deleted recently by a guy whos done a few vag cars now with no problem but after fitting the delete pipe ive got a warning on the dash now. Took the car back and got the delete map taken out and put back in but the lights back on was thinking it may be something else setting it off. Would the asv set it off and the vacumm line on the top of the egr valve there was no mention of wot to do with it but id read somewhere it had to be blocked off so i did could that also be an issue. Ive got vcds but not had a chance to scan the car yet.

Certain models have 2 layers of software on the ecu that needs to be deleted. I had a pd170 which had a shark egr delete and still brought the light on. When they investigated further there was a second layer of codes that needed to be removed.

Of course, this assumes that you are getting an egr fault code

Yep, Ben @ Shark told me it had to be removed from numerous places as well.

Would anyone know the names of these files to be removed so i can go back and say this and this have to be removed

It isn't your problem to find out which files need to be removed, that's what you pay the tuner for.

If he can't do it, you are entitled to a refund, then take it somewhere who can do it properly. Shark have a dealer franchise in most areas so I would try them for a start.

I don't think it is files as such that need to be deleted.

strings rather than files

My fault code im getting is p0401 insufficiant flow in egr system

So it hasn't been mapped out correctly.

Yeah thinking so should be an easy fix

What shark said to me was that most ecus only had one level of strings but one or 2 of the cars they mapped, including mine, needed another set of strings removed before the egr was properly mapped out.

I bet that is the case here

That's also a generic error code reading you've got. Scan with VCDS, so you get more information.

Think its finally fixed the guy phoned the company that writes his maps and its not just an egr delete map thats needed but a egr delete and a egr removal map. So maps getting tinkered with just now and hopefully thats it all done.

Struggling to understand the difference between EGR delete and EGR removal .........

Got to the bottom of it an egr delete stops the egr working and will work for ecus without a u at the end of there codes. But for the ecus with a u at the end the egr delete has to be done and the cel light will still come on when its removed but with the removal done aswell the cel light hasnt come back on.

don't need to remove it just stick a blanking plate in. A sharp eyed MOT tester will fail the mot if he sees the EGR has been physically removed

Are you sure on that? I thought they could only fail it on the actual emissions measurement?
