Front Anti Roll Bar

Featured Replies

Morning Gents

The bar is cracked, the collars split, and the drop links knocking like crazy on Mrs Pasty's car.

Anybody know the OEM part numbers for all the relevant/required replacements?

If I can get them I can pass them to my tame VW tech who can buy them in

I've got one pasty. I'll get some pics later if you like?

and my loacl dealer says.........

drumroll......

£125 for all the parts

wowers

Can I jump in and ask if there is an aftermarket one avaliable?

yes i believe there are KW and Eibach versions available but i'm pretty sure they are about 3 times the price of a standard one

like here maybe at £186 versus a stadnard one of under £60

That said from what i can tell the standard FARB is 20mm thick (although I think there are 18mm and 14mm ones for lesser models) and the "uprated" one is 22mm.

Doesn't seem to be enough to warrant a tripling in price in my opinion.

I'd have to agree. Mine is knocking too and wanted to make sure there wasn't a sporty one for a few quid extra. Cheers.

My dealer quote says you'll need the following

Drop links - 6R0 411 315 x 2 @ £22.80 each = £45.60

Anti Roll Bar - 6Q0 411 305 AN x 1 @ £48.90

Bushes - 6Q0 411 314 N x 2 @ £0.00 (assume they are supplied as part of the ARB assembly)

Hex collared bolts - WHT 005 480 x 4 @ 82p each = £3.28

Left clamp - 6Q0 411 333 B x 1 @ £2.08

Right clamp - 6Q0 411 334 B x 1 @ £2.08

total @ £101.94 + VAT = £122.33 all in

then you'll need to pay someone labour to drop the subframe and fit the whole lot

dont whiteline do collars that just bolt to the arb?? might be worth a shot

You can get uprated anti roll bar bushes, but looks like cliff needs a new roll bar too.

I have my old one tho, as I got a white line arb fitted :)

Drop links are a tenner off ebay!

Working well on mine

...And Whiteline @ £141 from Awesome or JBS...

Meyle HD droplinks @ £26 from VW Spares or maybe eBay.

Fitting.... 2 hours labour?

Get yourself some Meyle HD droplinks from VW spares online, better than OEM and cheap.

Can I ask what's good about the meyle HD ones? Are they of better material? Stiffer?

HD = Heavy Duty. Uprated and stronger. So should last longer.

In that case how does the wishbone HD bushes compare to cupra ones?

you can fit the smaller arb bushes by removing the plastic collars that split and fitting a small jubilee clip around the bar both ends, this keeps the bar central, I really cannot see why you would want to replace with a new one just because of the collars broken.

we have done it since the first Fabia came back after warranty had run out and it has not been a problem with mot or anything else, fixed for £15 max.

droplinks are another question again and the cheap ones will fail within 4K.

Think most of the bars are 20mm but the origional bushes are 22mm so you need the bushes from the 18mm bar.I will find the pt no''s if anyone wants.

Vrs front roll bar is 19mm iirc

I thought my bushes were knocking, or so I thought

I lowered the suspension, checked drop links seemed fine. Didn't get to replace the bushes but couldn't feel much movement in the ARB when I was in the process of the job with the front jacked up

After doing lowering everything seems firm again - despite having the bushes ready to be replaced I dont seem to need to personally !

So lowering is a quick and dirty solution lol

I presume that the bushes are basically pushed into a different position or something so it basically makes the bush continue to last a bit longer or something???

Indeed i had (or maybe still have) Powerflex ARB bushes on the red car but this is Mrs Pasty's black one but yes the bar itself has a crack in it and the droplinks are shot.

My tame mechanic has reduced the parts cost to £100 so I assume that's either staff sale discount on OEM parts or he'll be giving me cheap drop links! :)
