Driveshaft confusion!

Recommended Posts

My car was making a clunk/knock when coming off the pedal and could be replicated by blipping throttle.

So i bought a new driveshaft GKN combine with discount code from ECP.

When fitting i noticed the shaft on the new GKN was thinner but solid, apposed to that or the original, being fat and hollow.

Fitted fine but now i have a horrendous vibration only when giving it some.I have given it time to loosen up.

I seem to have issue's with parts being a 2008 pre facelift.

I recorded the original driveshaft P/N 1 k0 407 272NJ

One ordered is and is listed as BMN engine code mine is CEGA

Any help would be great....

There is a notification at the top of the page (as there normally is) that even though you have put your reg in there are multiple fitments available. So then you have to read down the fitments details and by process of elimination work out which one is the right one for you car. Sometimes they list the PR code that's on your data sticker (handy) sometimes as in this case an engine code (BMN which is a 2.0 8v PD iirc).

No when i put in my reg it only came up with the one i purchased.

If you manually enter spec of car. Then it give's you option's.

And i have just done it for my spring's.And it's given two option's.

I have also the wrong spring's.

Both ordered over the phone with them asking my reg.

Other spring's listed are 35mm not sure i want to go that low.

There is a fault on there system regarding my car.

Probably like i thought being a pre face with cr170 engine.

But i can't understand why they have supplied springs for 50mm shock's.Because no VRS use's 50mm strut's.

It's going to be a long day at ECP i am not phoning them.
