Remap advice

I was thinking of doing a remap on my fabia greenline 1.2 diesel? Is it worth it

I know I could of just bought one with a bigger engine, on the run popping along at 70 to 80 mph it's great but around the hills I think it could do with a. Bit more grunt.

Thanks

Has it been in for 'The Fix' yet or are you not having it done.

See how that works out if not done yet, get what ever expenses and gesture they are paying out for your time.

Then see who has a Remap available for your vehicle.

Have you checked out any tuning companies near you yet?

Have you spoke to anyone in your area that does Re-maps?

Or looked at anyone offering Discounts at this time of year.

Maybe worth just trading your car in and get something offering performance and economy, or since those might be difficult to get unless you spend more maybe just

put up with what you have and drive it into the ground.

Would a Petrol Engine car not suit your needs better anyway?

I've had part ex price but not happy with it. Would lose £1500 over 3 months. Gonna ring around and see if I can get remap.

But in meantime it's still for sale so hopefully will sell private. Will wait a few more weeks to have remap just incase it sells.

Have you only owned it 3 months?

Bought from a dealer that made a profit selling it to you and then trading into a dealer that wants to sell at a profit again?

I would not be selling or trading in so quick unless getting a decent amount of money.

but now your car is out of the Manufacturers Warranty the value is likely to keep dropping because that is just how it is.

A remap might be your best option as long as your insurance company allows that and you do not have to leave them and go to some insurer that does cover Modifications.

Ye will have to ring up insurance and see how much extra a remap would put my insurance upto. Or don't tell them. Lol

It's a shame really I have always had small cars. But only old ones. Bought my first decent car and after this short time don't like it.

I reckon a remap would make a noticeable difference.

Most companies are quoting 75bhp to 90-99bhp and 130lb/ft to 165lb/ft.

No doubt with and increase through the rev range and not just peak figures.

Aint been in for the fix yet

Might just bite my tongue and part ex it for a 1600 diesel engine

I would get a monte carlo 1.6 tdi 75 ps because it's the same engine as the 89 and 105ps minus the ecu - then have it remapped.

Good example being:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201701081110364?radius=1500&aggregatedTrim=Monte%20Carlo&fuel-type=Diesel&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&make=SKODA&zero-to-60=OVER_12&sort=price-asc&postcode=le102hh&advertising-location=at_cars&model=FABIA&page=1

the monte carlo will cope with the torque better as it has lower suspension and 17" alloys.

If you don't like the monte carlo the elegance version has 16" alloys which is better than the se which has 15"

Thanks John. I'm gonna try and sell it. Wanna get a SUV now. Need higher seating position for my back. Struggling to get in and out of it the last few days.

Ye I've had a few back oops and hip replacement. But still feel uncomfortable.

Sorry to hear that, have you thought about getting a  Yeti?

Ye I've looked at the yetis. But I do a lot of running around. So I'd be using loads of diesel.

Might just bite the bullet and get a Renault captur or Nissan Juke.

my previous car Fabia HR II was 1.4TDi remapped from 80 to 100HP by Hajes Racing...well it is still family shopping car and you won't feel any substantial difference...other than placebo effect
