  1. Thanks - so it sounds like an oil change after 10,000 miles is the way to go - with no real need (or benefit) beforehand.
  2. Thanks Kenny - another really silly question - how do I know whether it's fixed or variable? I did read the manual and am none the wiser. The garage seemed a bit vague as well.
  3. I have a 1.4 DSG Elegance which was bought last December and has done 6,000 miles so far. When should the oil be changed? The garage told me the original oil would last until its 10,000-mile service - does this sounds about right? it seems a long interval for a new car to me. Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before - I looked, but I'm a noob on this fourum and may have missed the obvious.
  4. There are a fair few debadging videos on YouTube. I guess they all work, but is there a best way for Skoda badges? I don't have a heat gun, but maybe a hairdryer would do. My car's only a week old, so hopefully the glue hasn't really begun to set yet. Any thoughts?
  5. Well, I was told I'd have to wait until April for my 1.4 Elegance, and then all of a sudden it arrived in the UK the week before last and I picked it up last Saturday. Very happy so far.
  6. So hello! Yesterday I traded in my Octavia Mk1 - 14 years and two months old and 221,000 miles on the clock - for an Octavia Mk3 1.4 Elegance DSG. I had the old Octavia from new and have been completely happy with the brand, quality and performance of the car. I lived in a flat for most of the years I owned my first car, so it was hard to give it the love it needed (mainly in terms of cleaning - it was always serviced), but like a faithful dog it never let me down. The new Octavia came with a LifeShine service (Autoglym), so I intend to keep up the good work. Happy motoring, Mike PS in the voice of Forrest Gump: My name's Mike Morton, people call me mikemorton
  7. The centre caps on my Octavia Mk1 were trashed after only a year or so of driving, but I never bothered replacing them. Yesterday I took delivery of my brand new 1.4 Elegance DSG. I was hoping that by now (I had my Mk1 for 14 years and 221,000 miles!) Skoda would have the centre caps down to a fine art, but reading this thread it seems that's no so. Are there any aftermarket alternatives (with or without the Skoda logo) that you guys would recommend?
  8. Mine (bought yesterday and feature explained to me by the sales rep) fold in automatically when the car is locked. Maybe you car has somehow had this option disabled. There must be a way to re-enable.
