  1. I cant remember what make they were mate , they wernt cheapo ones ,think they cost £230 fitted . Its really doing my head I need to get to the bottom of it .
  2. I have been driven crazy by this same problem .It started about a year ago, had it in a couple of garages they said there was no problem plenty of life left in the pads etc. Ithen took itto another garage who stripped them down found that the pads crumbled into bits when removed , so I bit the bullet and replaced pads and discs ,problem solved no noise and the brakes had much more feel and bite . Now a year later same problem brakes feel crap ,grinding noise and the outer inch of the discs are 'wrinkled ' its like to or three lines running right round the discs . Had it back in the garage the machanic says it because the pads these days have bits of metal running through them sounds like a lot of **** to me !
  3. PCV I would say had the same problem couple of months ago . Think it cost me about £80 to get sorted at garage .
  4. I have a 06 VRS and like the others I love it . For the performance on offer I think they are very reasonable to run 200bhp and 35mpg is great in my book . they are also very practical and the boot is huge . There are only two things that I'm not too happy with mine uses a litre of oil every 1200 miles and I find the road noise in the cabin is pretty bad , have tried changing the rear tyres didnt make much difference . All in all though they are great cars a bit of a bargain .
  5. Phoned Arnold Clark Skoda today got the car booked in for the recall no probs . I wish I had seen this thread before would have saved myself £100 , oh well not to worry ,glad they are all getting changed .
  6. It was only one pack on cylinder number one , I am going back in on Friday to pay the bill so will mention it then . I am now checking my service history to see if the recall has been done on my car , hoping it hasnt been so I can get the lot done free !
  7. I suffered a failed coil pack this morning , got it replaced today all seemed well for a while ! On the way home floored it when accelerating on to motorway the car miss fired at 2000 rpm then again at 2500 . Not sure if this is the new pack is faulty or another one is ready to go !
  8. Does anyone have the part number for the pcv valve ? Think I will have a go at fitting it myself .
  9. Could someone explain what the PCV valve does , is it a diy job ?
  10. After a remap a few months ago I had the common problem of DV valve failure , fixed it with the rev D valve . All was well for a couple of months now I am getting similar symptoms , lack of power and poor throttle response . Also I,m experiencing rough idle its revving too high about 1100 rpm with occasional jumps up to 1500 rpm . I'm starting to get a bit ****ed off now had no problems before car was mapped . Had a look on the forum ,could pcv valve cause these problems ?
  11. The buzzer sounds for worn brake pads or low brake fluid , I know the brake pads are fine and fluid is fine . I dont need a warning buzzer for brake pads or fluid I check them every month ,will get it checked again need to get it sorted its really annoying .
  12. For a few weeks now the warning buzzer has been going off every five minutes even though brake pads are fine ! Got mechanic to check brake fluid he says it fine , I would like to double check this but I cant see the min or max markings on the bottle . Is it possible to take it to the garage and get the warning light and buzzer turned off through vcds ? Any advice appreciated .
  13. Rega Planar 2 here ,nice to know there are a few vinyl enthusiasts on here .
