Help with a netbook please
21 January 2013 - 21:21
Hi all,
I think this is one for the active I.T community on here, but I'll take any help given on this please.
My son's best friend has an Advent 4214 netbook, which following some quick investigation, it is very apparent that the hard drive is no longer of this world.
What I need, if anyone can help is a link to a repair maual for said article, or failing that, an idea of how the keyboard comes out, as there does not seem to be much slack on the ribbon cable peering into the casing now that I have removed the securing screws.
I could imagine how to get the cable out, but it looks a right **** to get it back in without the keyboard out of the way to be able to see what you are doing.
Any help or links would be much appreciated, and feel free to pm me if any info does not belong on a public forum.
Many thanks

Some buying advice please
30 November 2012 - 22:37
Hi,
I am looking to buy VCDS for my 53 plate mk1 Octavia VRS, and have seen it advertised on 2 of Ross Tech's authorised dealers.
One is on Gendan's web site, who seem to get good feedback from various people on here, and the other is on V-Tech's web site. V-Tech are offering the product cheaper, but I cannot seem to find much feedback on here about them as a company.
Has anybody purchased from V-Tech?, if so what were your experiences/impressions of them?.
I take it HEX+CAN USB is the correct one that I require?, I also want to use it on my in-laws 51 plate fabia tdi, will this do both?.
Sorry for all the questions and many thanks in advance.

Can anybody help with Virgin media?
11 November 2012 - 22:20
Hi all,
I or rather my 80 year old inlaws have a problem with Virgin Media at the moment, they lost their landline two weeks ago, and it is becoming a big struggle to get it back.
They had a team arrive on Friday which dug a hole and left a cable in the front garden, but nobody at Virgin customer relations after 3 different calls seems to have any idea when they are coming back to finish the line. Unfortunately they live near a railway line so mobile reception is abismal at best so they are without any way to call out at all.
This is a big problem as my mother in law had a stroke 8 weeks ago, and there is no way to call 999 should she relapse. Does anybody on here have any contacts that I could call that could help them out, as I just want them to have a working line, and to be honest I'm getting fed up of being apologised to without any plan of action.
All contacts would be treated in strictest confidence, and could be sent to my pm box if this is awkward on a public forum.
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Filter advice please
07 October 2012 - 00:20
Hi,
I've just purchased a Panasonic DMC-FZ48 bridge camera which seems well up to my limited photographic skills, but I was thinking of getting a skylight filter and some uv filters like I used to use on my old 35mm camera.
My question is 2 fold really, firstly, are all the 52mm filter threads compatible with the panasonic lens?.
Secondly, does anybody have any particular brand that they favour?. My old filter kit was from Hunter plastics, but is over 25 years old so I take it Hunter are no more?.
Any advice would be gratefully received as I am getting back into photography after nearly a 15 year lay-off.
Many thanks
