  1. And it's a DSG! Things just get stranger and stranger with regard to hatch builds...... I would have probably gone for that if it hadn't been white - just ..... where on earth did they get it from? And it's had time to 1500 miles! *sigh*
  2. I've spotted that a few people who have ordered hatches have been getting later and later build weeks and now they've gone to "No build date" Has anyone got to the bottom of what's going on there? I phoned last week and my hatch is now at week 10 (ordered 26th Aug) - I'm going to wait a couple of weeks before checking again. For info mine doesn't have anything special that has known delays, no ACC, no pano roof, spec was: Ambunsden sat nav Black pack Cruise Colour Maxi I'm just wondering because obviously the line that SUK have been telling me about hatches not being built until week 45 is a load of rubbish (some are already in the UK) and the dealer is hopeless - there's nobody else to go to really! Cheers
  3. Yep I agree - I will always have my sat nav app on my phone as I paid for it once and got free map updates (so far) for life. But this weekend for example, out with he who must be obeyed and looking for the place we were heading to - q much swearing as the phone comes out to get the sat nav working, followed by using three different apps to find one that works, only to find that the USB charger isn't working so I then end up with a flat battery :/ I uttered the words "If that ****ing car ever turns up we won't have this problem"
  4. I'm glad to hear that, I think they can get a bad rep as cars, actually they are pretty amazing bits of kit - I hope one day I can own one again, before it's illegal to own anything fun. Don't get me wrong, some people love her, most don't and say they don't like Porsche's - usually after a 20 min "spin" they're rethinking though
  5. Have you priced up doing a PCP over 3 years, and then just giving it back after 2? Might work out cheaper, not sure, the maths side of my brain is taking a break today
  6. It is.....but (there's a but) I do like things being integrated, I know it's probably a bit "****y" but I don't like having bits of stuff stuck to the dash and having to plug in a charger (which gets lost etc) and then the window suction thing is rubbish and it falls off. When I ordered the octy (first brand new factory build car for me) I wanted all the things I wanted on the old car built right in from the start, it saves faffing around with phones / extra sat nav units, bluetooth repeaters for music streaming etc etc Each to their own though, for some people I know the thought of spending £450 just for something built into the dash is almost high treason, but for me it will make driving around easier and calms the "neat and tidy" part of my brain lol. Is a bit annoying about this street names thing though, anyone been in touch with SUK to see if they can raise a support case about it? - Possiblity they could easily update the firmware on these units?
  7. Yup - well, I'm trying to downgrade, I need to wait and see what happens with build / delivery dates. I (still) own a Porsche 987 MK1, stunning car, quick enough for me and crazily well thought out - it's been a very tough decision but I need something with a teeny bit more practicality and better fuel economy. I think the MK3 vRS tdi hatch pretty much ticks the boxes for what I wanted, it's going to be nowhere near as fast or good in the corners but I have to think more sensibly about other things in my life at the moment and so I've had to come to a compromise. In summary i'm getting: - Lower monthly payments - No servicing costs - No MOT costs - Warranty to cover most things for 3 years - Cheaper tyres - Cheaper road tax (£30 vs £245) - Better fuel economy - More space for camping weekends etc - Cheaper insurance And it's still a relatively "fast" car - can't really argue with that I sure will miss the current car, but I won't miss the "hate" I get for driving a porsche, honestly some people are utterly strange and seem to assume you're some kind of tax dodging millionaire, all I can say is I wish that was the case! - BUT everyone who I've spoken to loves the vRS? - at least I'll be "popular" again.....lol
  8. Dealer couldn't entirely remember what Skoda said when he rang but he thought they said my car was currently scheduled to be built week 10 Absolutely furious
  9. Well totally chuffed for you dude, can't wait to see your pics when they come through! I've not specced ACC or anything too fancy, just sat nav and cruise - it's just a shame that everyone gets a different story when they speak to SUK!
  10. I really hope it is a vRS hatch - it would be awesome news for the guy, probably got to be one of the first in the country based on what others have been saying?
  11. Well pictures as soon as you get it then! Have you double checked they actually ordered you a hatch?! LOL! This all continues to prove that I think Sokda must do business by accident, as a customer I get the impression that nobody really seems to know what's going on
  12. Congratulations and all but I'm still really confused - Spoke to SUK myself on Friday and they told me that no vRS hatches have been produced (I assume aside from the press cars / the one at goodwood) - he sounded pretty sure about that. He said what a few others ahve said here before - no production of the hatch until week 45, demo's first then customers, don't expect your car until Jan, there is a small chance if they get ahead it might come sooner. I'm not desputing what your saying, it's just confusing....
  13. Is this a vRS hatch? And when did you order if you don't mind me asking?
  14. Just sent a sh**y e-mail via the contact form to Skoda UK - pointed out that lots of people are getting varying information - threatened to cancel the order unless someome sorts this out., Frankly I'm fine with a Dec delivery, it fits well, but I just want to know what the deal is - even if they turned around and said March at least I can go and find another option. What a joke, I pointed out in the e-mail that they win all these customer service awards, I'm not sure I'd rate them very highly at the moment....
  15. This is brilliant. I just called on the back of this info and was told that my order has been accepted but doesn't have a build date yet.... She said it *could* be built Oct / November as hatch orders are due to be sent out in Jan. She did also say "We are busy building the hatch estates at the moment" *does wonky look* So who knows, they sounded pretty manic there, I pressed option 4 from the main number, not sure if others have had any luck with other options. Also, as pointed out before, my dealer called the other day and said there was a delay, but that Skoda couldn't confirm what that delay was.... Starting to get cold feet to be honest, I need to know that I'll have a car by the end of the year - otherwise I'll take my business elsewhere....
  16. Eh? - Is that a vRS hatch? - what engine? Confused, SKU have been telling everyone they are not building them till first week November? Is your build week confirmed then? (code 20 I think) Ol.
  17. Unbelievable! How crazy is that?! What does your order form say that they printed? - I would absolutely not accept it - have you signed for the finance yet? Not sure what the petrol blue looks like, if you do actually like it you could drive a pretty epic deal on this I think!
  18. Absolutely - I'm 29, heard working, and proud that I am paying my own way, like most people I've relied on credit over the years to pay for things - I suspect I'm not that different to the majority of people on here - what's funny about that? As I said each to their own, but my personal view is if I ever got to the point where I owned both my house and had cash for a car, I'd put the majority of that cash into another property (retirement) or use it to help my (perhaps one day) kids out with their first property.... Opinions are exactly as you say - but I've not made up figures
  19. All circumstances are individual, but given I have a mortgage and other debt to pay there is no way I would ever ever ever want to sink my hard earned cash into a depreciating asset, especially a car! (of all things!) Cars (unless classics, and even then!) are NOT a sound investment for your cash, there are far far too many ways to lose your money. When reading these forums I always think each to their own, but it does make me wonder why some people would shove their hard earned cash into what is essentially a "furnace" I've learnt the heard way with my past two cars that they will never return the kind of "investment" you expect, so it's better not to own the risk, that way if it ever is a problem you just hand the car back - after all if there's no money left in it, you'd probably be a in a worse position anyway (having to pay to get rid of it) The finance company own my car? so what? - it's a car, I'd rather I owned my house sooner!
  20. Right - and what was the RRP? (with the options you chose) Still confused about how you can get this level of discount, unless of course it's because the dealer is your mate - then it makes more sense ... even so he must be a bloody good mate! lol
  21. 8.6% with the 0%?Not being funny but can you post the actual numbers as that doesn't make sense. (Unless you are getting mates rates or something) They can't be making anything on that, I don't see why a dealership would bother to do that business especially given how new the car is....
  22. Hi All, I have an order in for a vRS TDI Manual at the moment - pretty much the ONLY reason I went for the manual was because the DSG was listed on the website at 26K odd - which I thought was strange at the time. Looking at teh website again today it's down for around 24k?! Wondering if I should change the order (if that's even possible) - does anything have any experience of the vRS TDI with DSG? - I've heard a few rumblings that it hasn't worked out too well, but I really did fancy one when I first started looking :\
  23. Hi, Has anyone taken delivery of a MKIII with Amundsen yet? - I was just trying to get an idea of features etc, a youtube video would be ideal if someone fancies doing a review I've found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyBUcCno_i8 which I'm pretty sure is the same unit (just with a different fascia) as the screens look roughly the same as the ones in the manual (just skinned with a VW look and feel) I'm just torturing myself but I may as well while I wait!
  24. Had a rather odd call from my dealer yesterday who said "Skoda UK have said there are delays, but they can't confirm what the delays are yet - I'm just keeping you informed, hopefully we are still going for a December delivery date" (or words to that effect) Think the call was really just so he could tick the box to say he'd called me back, it's only taken him a week! - I don't know what to make of it all really, I think i'm going to leave it for a bit and revisit in a few weeks. For info my order is a vRS TDI Hatch, options are black pack, sat nav, cruise and race blue
  25. Strange about it only being on the Columbus, if you read the Amundsen manual it says you can turn it on in there i'm sure? Or maybe it was just the standard Oct MKIII manual I was reading? I don't remember it saying that it is dependent on the Columbus though. I'm pretty sure it does manually need turning on though (from what I remember)
