  1. Hi Tulipz, It might be worth having a look at the Special Edition Roomster for the same money, you get rear parking sensors, floor mats, panoramic glass roof and sunset glass in the deal as standard. Not sure of availability and if broker4 cars can get a similar discount, and, of course, you might hate their shape. But in my opinion they are much quieter than the Fabia and have a more flexible interior for your family.
  2. Did the steering actually lock, or did you loose the power assist making it very stiff? There was a problem with the loss of power assist on Vauxhall Merivas which was featured on watchdog. Vauxhall were charging about £800 for the fix until they got shamed into doing it for free, despite it being very dangerous I don't think there ever was a recall because they claimed the car could still be driven. Good luck and let us all know how things work out.
  3. Being a sad git I have just checked the brochure prices for the Rapid SE plus the options listed for the Connect and the otr price reduction is, indeed, £3665. Looks a reasonable deal. BUT I could rant all day about the prices of options on new cars, especially metallic paint!
  4. I see that Skoda UK have at last caught up with their dealers and are now promoting this offer on their web site, but only in silver.....
  5. The Roomster van article in post 3 has a rather nice typo - the Skoda Director is named as ROBERY Hazelwood, who I understand has now moved on to VW. I usually do feel, at least slightly, robbed when visiting a VAG dealer.
  6. I have completed 4K in my TSI 85 since September and no problems, and the only rattle is from the rear seat belts when the grand kids forget to put the buckles back in their slots, no oil used. Fuel consumption is slightly worse than my old Fabia 1.4 mpi when the official figures said it should be a bit better, but well worth it for the much more pleasant drive and larger boot space. This one should be a keeper!
  7. I think it would be very popular with the English............
  8. Am I reading the small print correctly on the Skoda UK website, and you now have to pay to get 3 years roadside assistance as part of the maintenance package? And strangely enough the Octavia service package increase at £15 per month over the base solutions charge is cheaper than the Fabia, Roomster and Rapid which is £20?? And the Yeti is not included in the 0% offer.
  9. I thought the Skoda warranty includes the main battery, but not those in the keys or alarm which are listed in the exclusions. Is the real issue that the dealer claims the battery is ok? Can't you leave the car over a frosty night with them, after making some short journeys? Then they might get the picture, after all you have bought the premium model.
  10. Got 3 years replacement vehicle 10K gap for 3 years, starting next sept for £95 for my Roomster, I think return to invoice was £65 on the same basis.
  11. Good point, I forgot about the auto locking, must be getting old and (more) confused.
  12. Denis, If you do a forum search on "Roomster windows opening" you will find some other examples, together with some Fabia ones. Seems unlikely that they are all caused by accidentally holding the remote button down (and anyway wouldn't the car be unlocked as well? ). Might be worth trying to reset the windows by cycling them down and up using the remote as others have suggested, if not a visit to the dealer might get you more than a "you must have held the button down" reaction!
  13. Congrats on the new car! The plastic bit is for holding a parking ticket, although I have never used mine in 4 years of Fabia/ Roomster ownership!
  14. Did you get it for 9990 and 0%? If so you did well, I had to pay 7.9% on mine (didn't matter as I paid it of within the 14 days and still got the free servicing) I think the SE for this money is a cracking deal I wonder how many are still available? Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.
  15. I find the stuff in the gold bottle difficult to get a lather and even more difficult to rinse away, but at about £40 for 4 litres it is not bad value, and you need to make sure you get the correct long life VW spec if you go more than 12 months between taking showers. Perhaps I'll try the blue stuff when the gold stuff runs out.
  16. A timely warning, just imagine no car and still having to pay the finance co. because the insurance won't pay. And I hate to think what the insurance renewal would cost on the next car, if you could afford one.....
  17. I had this on my mk2 fabia hatch and was sawtoothing on the rears (dunlop sports) cured for a few thousand miles by swopping the fronts to the back until the rears were worn again.
  18. Congrats on your new estate, they do handle better than the equivalent hatch, and you get the better engine. Funny on the colour availability, I went for the Special Edition Roomster and the shark blue seems more popular than the silver.
  19. Well the Dealer failed at their first attempt, I think they only lubricated the guides etc. Was OK when I picked it up yesterday, but was exactly the same today in the rain. However, they washed the Roomster and gave me a 1.4tsi Octavia for a few hours! Booked in again near the end of the month for two days.
  20. Does anybody know if the "force limiter" is adjustable on the front windows? On my 6 week old Roomster the drivers window goes down when up is selected, but much more often when the glass and seals are wet. It is going in to the dealers next week and it would be good to know if others have had this issue and what was done to cure it
  21. My new Roomster was supplied ex factory with the service set to variable according to the code in the front of the service book. The dealer has reset this to fixed on PDI, I am happy for now because I have 3 free services with the finance which have to be carried out on the fixed regime. When these have been completed I will make my own mind up whether to go fixed or variable dependent upon my then annual mileage and driving mix. Of course your dealer would rather receive your money more frequently, but it is up to you to decide. There are discussions on this subject elsewhere on Briskoda that should help you reach a decision.
  22. Thanks for the photos, I can see the difference in mine now, when it is sunny, when it is dull it is harder to spot, at least for me!
  23. Nasty, but it could have been worse, it could have ended up inside the car with you. And it might have been very, very mad, not just wild.
