  1. Hi guys, I thought I'd post some initial good and not-so-good thoughts after driving my Karoq for a week or so. Loving the car. The Good The visibility The infotainment system Apple Car Play The room in the cabin The ride quality Superb engine Sensor systems - love the front parking sensors being always active for tight turns Looks great in Candy White The auto hand brake system. The Not-So-Good Simply Unclever - the RAC/AA triangle doesn't fit in the holder in its case, the Halfords standard fire extinguisher doesn't fit the holder and the umbrella doesn't really fit anywhere. The WLAN doesn't like an iPhone personal hotspot especially if connected to Car Play - takes 15 min to detect it has an internet connection. A little bit sluggish off the line. The driving seats are little short/narrow for fat people - poor driving position as a result. The steel spare wheel takes up -a lot- of boot space and the rest of the boot isn't modified to reflect this, cargo tie down points are therefore buried behind the spare wheel holder and are useless. Andy
  2. I bought a pair of pouches off amazon which work superbly, the door will not unlock even with the pouch touching the car. However there is an easier way round this when parked on your drive overnight - disable KESSY! Lock the car with the key fob and then within 5 second touch the lock sensor on the door - this disables KESSY - the car will now only unlock via the button on the keyfob. However you have to do this everytime you lock the car, it isn't a setting the car remembers. Andy
  3. Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone at Gapinsurance UK for their help today setting up a 4 year replacement gap on my new Karoq. I said on the phone to them my dealer was offering 3 year finance gap for £400, when I checked after the call it was actually £315. I still saved c.£90 on the dealer price for much better cover :-) Thanks! Andy
  4. All the paperwork is done, I pick mine up on Monday afternoon :-)
  5. Just had an update, my car is now at the Port waiting to cross the Channel :-)
  6. You signed an order with the dealer at a specific cost/deposit/repayment for an on the road vehicle didn’t you? I’d argue they entered into a contract with you and (at the time) that Ved increase was already known (I ordered on the 15th Jan and it was factored in for an April delivery) and that it’s their error and they should be stomaching the increase as their errror. If I recall correctly the new rates were announced in the November budget!
  7. Had a phone call from my dealer today, my car has been bought forward a week to week 11. :-)
  8. The vehicle had its official launch weekend in the UK and in other parts of Europe in between the order dates, it's no surprise the wait time has gone up as - if Skoda got their launch weekends right - orders should have spiked.
  9. Just got off the phone with Skoda UK.... I've been allocated build week 11, week beginning 12th March. :-)
  10. Ordered 15th Jan 2.0TDI DSG 4x4 SE-L Candy White Space Saver Spare Wheel Advised on ordering to expect mid-April delivery. Advised today the car hasn’t been allocated a build week yet.
  11. No, I haven't been assigned a build week yet so this was not discussed :-)
  12. Following on, I spoke with my dealer today and asked them to confirm whether my car would have Alcantara or not - with the intention of requesting Leather if not. My dealer has spoken with Skoda UK who have confirmed to them - in writing - Alcantara has not been removed from the SE L and cars ordered will have Alcantara seating. Andy
  13. Ordered mine on the basis that I saw an SE-L with the standard seats, I won't be best pleased if it comes with normal fabric seats at all.
  14. Just to update. I ordered my vehicle yesterday, been told delivery will potentially be early April but not yet confirmed. Candy White SE-L 2.0TDI DSG 4x4 with Spare Wheel on a 12,000 mile 4 year PCP. Now to sort out GAP insurance as the dealer wants £400 for it! Andy
  15. Thanks for the info :-)
  16. RE: "Brake hold" I test drove a 4x4 DSG Auto Edition yesterday and this definitely had "Brake hold", the dealer made a point of showing me how to use it. Said it was standard on the engine/gearbox combo I was driving.
  17. Hi all, Has anyone seen a Karoq in Candy White yet? I test drove a 4x4 Auto today and loved it, so much so that I'm ordering one this week. The dealer has offered me a very good deal on my Mk3 Octavia VRS - more than the settlement value of my PCP and I'm only 18 months into a 42 month PCP! A fair bit more than the book value for trade in too. I've specified Candy White on an SE-L after comparing a City Go in Candy and a Superb in Moon White, it looked the nicer of the two colours. But has anyone actually seen a Karoq in one or can find a photo of one? All I can find is Moon White. Thanks Andy
  18. Just to update, took it in this morning. They're having to order me a new gearstick on warranty. They said they'd never seen anything like it before.
  19. Thanks guys, I'll get them to have a look Saturday.
  20. Hi guys, I've picked up my VRS DSG today. It's got to go back Saturday as they've put the wrong plates on it (Requested GB and they haven't been fitted) However on the drive home I found that trigger button is loose/flappy. I.e you can lift it up and away from the gearstick, the button cover doesn't seem attached to the mechanism below at is base and is free to move as it likes. Is this normal? Ta Andy
  21. Just had a phonecall from the dealer. Picking up my bw20 VRS TDi DSG (Race Blue, Black Pack, Spare Wheel, Power Fold Mirrors) next Thursday! Ordered 4th April so that's a 10.5 week turn around! Cannot wait! :-D
  22. Just had a call from the dealer. My build week 20 VRS has arrived in the UK. Now awaiting transport from the port to the dealer. Being quoted week to 10 days, worst case two weeks before I collect. Very happy! Andy
  23. Ordered a Hatch DSG Diesel VRS in Race Blue with Black Pack, Spare Wheel and Electric Folding Mirrors on 10th April. Was informed today that the order has been alloted Build Week 20 which is W/C 16th May... so 5-6 weeks after order. Dealer expects the car to ready for handover early June, possibly late May if I'm lucky. It's replacing my 63 reg O3 Elegance 150TDI which was on PCP, the dealer gave me £190 equity which isn't bad, I'd looked a few other brands and they were valuing the car around £1,000 less now which left me in a position where the car was already worth less than the final payment on my PCP if I had ran to the end in September! Really looking forward to it, a little disappointed that the 16MY VRS doesn't have an autodimming rear view mirror any more though, or have I miss read the latest specification list?
  24. Thanks for the responses guys, I'm more disappointed with the level of depreciation than anything to be honest, especially as with AllanDJ, it was sold to me that there would always be a "few thousand" in the car over the 0% finance., To add insult to injury Skoda sent me a letter following the visit confirming my "settlement value", obviously forgetting its 0% interest as they knocked £0.01 off the remaining finance as an "interest rebate". At the moment I'll have no choice but to buy the car which is personally disappointing as I would like a VRS. After this experience, this is likely to be my first, and last, brand new car. Personally I believe the 0% and the selling spiel I let myself get duped me into a PCP process and I think its best I cut my losses and get out of it as soon as I can afford to. Lesson learned. Andy
  25. Hi guys, Just come away from the dealers a little concerned. I dropped my 2013 2ltr Elegance Hatch (with front assist) in for its second service today, they offered to see if it was worth me changing cars. They ran the numbers on my 0% interest PCP taken out in September 2013 and the current equity in my Octavia is wait for it.... 26 pence! The cars value.... £12,300 The PCP was taken out based on 14000 miles a year, but I have only just rolled over 18000 today on the way to work. My final payment next September is £9,900. I'm now quite concerned I'll have negative equity based on that valuation. It appears the mk3 isn't holding it value as well as vwfs hoped back in 2013 so thought I'd share my experience with everyone in case someone else is in the same boat! Andy
