  1. So I'm thinking of chopping my vrs in as I could do with something bigger with a growing family. It's got leather interior although I don't think it's what was on them as an option as it doesn't have the vrs logo or stitching, it's possible that it's from a polo or something as the seats seem to be the same style eg bolster size etc. I'm wondering if it would be more profitable to sell/part ex my interior with the standard cloth vrs interior before I do swap the car or whether it is worth the hassle.
  2. Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully I should be ok, we've got an isofix base already aswell. Already bought a pram as we found a good offer, the back wheels are quick release so should be fine. I think it will be a roof box jobby if we go on holiday
  3. Whats it like in the boot with puschair etc?
  4. Its a vote each way at the moment then. I do worry a little bit about the cabin size, im not tall but my seats probably half way back and theres not to much room behind. Problem is sometimes I work on the weekend and can do about 250 miles which costs me about £30 ish on diesel. Imagine that would be nearer to a full tank in an octy
  5. So ive had my Fabia vrs since April. I bought it as I new id be doing a lot of miles work wise and wanted something with some go. Ive had it remapped recently and love it. However a few months ago me and the wife had the surprise that we will be having a new arrival to the family in February. Weve already got a 6 year old and the size of the car is fine with him, but im really getting worried if we're going to have the room once the baby comes along. At the moment the option im considering is selling the fabia and getting a mk1 octy vrs, but probably an earlier one worth around 2k ish. The fabia is on finance, but I should be able settle that and pay cash for the octy which should offset the extra running costs. Really not sure though, I love the mpg for the performance I get with the fab but things like thr boot size compared to the octy have got me thinking on the practically side of things
  6. I got back into cycling this year, longest rides of about 45 miles. A couple of months ago I did a 45 miler and had really bad pain in my knee for a couple of days later. It seemed to disappear, but next time o my bike I was in agony. I think with mine I strained something as on that bike ride I was trying to push bigger gears to keep ip with the chap I was out with. The only thing that seemed to make mine better was resting it. But as said about you need an expert opinion of it doesn't go away as you could have done something more damaging. Do you use clipless pedals on your bike? I took the opportunity to try and make sure these were positioned correctly aswell as saddle height and position as I felt I might be aggravating the problem, Ive also decided I need some cleats woth float in them as mine have none and im more aware of my knee positioning when im out of the saddle.
  7. I didnt have the time to go see him, so I bougjt an ebay MPPS lead and loaded the map on myself after sending john the boost amd some other logs. So my remap cist me £63 in total
  8. It is so much nicer to drive, and no egr stutter either now with it turned off. Not sure about the high torque but the sade torque map I cant see any smoke in daylight, and a little haze in the dark but it smokes loads less than standard map
  9. Good to see another faboka remap . Think he'll be up there with shark and the likes soon! Got the dual map on mine so I haven't tried the high torque with launch yet.
  10. Your BLT should remap to the same as an ASZ. Just from the factory the BLT seem to be quicker. Ive recently remapped my BLT, I was concerned I wouldnt notice much difference and I was wrong, delivery is so much smoother and pulls all through the revs. Its deceptively quick now and 3 figure speeds approach quickly. Had a play with an old shape starlet gt turbo, not sure what his was running but had front mount intercooler so I dont think it was stock and the performance seemed pretty even. Doubt he was getting 45mpg + though. Personally stage one map is as far as I would go, if I want a quicker car id swap rather than ploughing money to make the fabia faster. Bang for buck stage one remap is good though
  11. I dont think the handling us all that bad, im not saying its all that good, but I doubt it would be very good for something like an autotest. I find it fine on spirited driving on country roads fine as long as you are smooth, any drving that involves chucking the front end in and you will get understeer of course. Im very eager to get a rear ARB though. Id say to anyone who hates the handling that much, why buy the car?
  12. That may well be, but if personally if I was looking for a car, reciepts etc backed service history showimg car had been serviced with quantum platinum oil or a tick and stamp from lets say for example kwikfit who may just mass pump oil out of a tank I know which I would choose. My car will be 10 years old plus when I come to sell it, so service stamps dont mean as much IMO Matt, to be fair I did misunderstood what you were getting at and I agree that comparing to too cost wise is not relevant mate.
  13. I see what your saying, but but also you could pay the £15 for a meal and it might not be too standard, and the homemade one could be delicious. Alot of my reason to do it myself is that I know ive done it properly, I dont know how much care someone else might take with my car. Obviously a vag sspecialist or the like should do it right but my worry was if you take it to a non vag specialist whether they use the correct oil etc. Not saying everyone else should do this, but I chose to and the bonus was it didnt cost much. I know a lot of people like full dealer service history, but does a stamp in the book prove your car has been looked afrer?
  14. My last service cost me about £50 doing it myself and that included buying a socket to fit yhe oil filter lid.
  15. Looking at prices on the trader id agree also, maybe 3k if your lucky. Mines about the same age/mileage as yours and if I could get 4k ish for mine id probably trade in for an octy with a new addition to the family on the way. Unfortunately I know its not going to happen so I'll have to buy a roof box instead. Interestingly theres still a fabia vrs for sale not to far from me that was for sale when I got mine in may, tempted to go take a look to see whats wrong with it.
  16. I thought about 300ft lbs torque was the max sensible on standard clutch. 340ft lbs and id expect to be putting an uprated clutch in. Ive gone for a safe ish remap around 265ft lbs of torque with mine at 93k on original clutch as far as im aware.
  17. Last two years about half of my holiday was spent working as a contractor for another company. At the moment ive got 3 days leave left to book before april
  18. Ive not tried launch control yet as ive only got it on the max torque map as im on the clutch friendly map at the moment. Thats the other good thing is the features you can choose like launch and dual maps that I wouldn't have had with a generic map.
  19. Mine looks the same as a vagcom but apparently isnt. I dont really understand what the difference would be as they both connect the laptop to the obd2 port
  20. Just had my Vrs remapped courtesy of Faboka. Cannot rate the guy enough. I'd been looking for a remap since I bought the car in May. I wasnt prepared to spend to much and nearly booked with a cheaper "big company" a couple of times but was put off by reviews of smokey maps etc. Then I came across Faboka on here, he really seems to really know his stuff, originally I was going to travel up to him for the remap but couldnt make it so I decided to get the file service (hidden-power) So I got myself an mpps clone and bit the bullet. Firstly I sent john some logs he asked for and my ecu flash. John asked me what features I wanted and sent my file back and got me to do a couple of logs and has then tweaked the map again from these. For a full custom map at a smigen on the price of a generic map its brilliant. I can see why tuners are the price they are for a full custom map as its clear John spent alot of time doing the map. So overall im really happy the change in how the car drives and cannot praise John enough. Ive also learnt alot more about how remapping works myself than I ever would have if I had gone to a company and handed over the cash. Anyone looking for a remap I wouldn't hesitate to send in the direction of Faboka
  21. Ive turned down the egr value on vcds to as much as will allow until I remap. Before I turned it down if I hadn't really booted it for a little while when I did I got quite a lot of smoke. Now with it turned down I get barely any in the same scenario.
  22. Interested to hear from anyone who has had the £150 remap from awesome. Im looking at getting mine mapped would like to know how smooth it feels any mpg differences and dyno graphs if anyone has them Thanks
