  1. Sounds like the slave cylinder, my dad had the same on his Leon 184 (same engine/box) and they found fluid in the bell housing where the slave had leaked
  2. Definitely worth going to another garage for inspection etc, no way water in the brake lines would corrode the discs! They didn’t mention anything about the left phalange did they?
  3. Shame the end is controversial, although not surprising given the season we’ve watched. The last championship I remember being that close on the final lap was Hamilton passing Glock in 2008 for the championship in Brazil!
  4. Mine was about 10,000 short but 5 years when I bought it so got the cambelt and water pump done, I would get it changed as I imagine age comes into a factor with the belt. But personally I probably wouldn’t worry if it goes a few months over the 5 years either
  5. That’s interesting to hear as I’ve experienced this delay in the wet on the motorway, a bit scary but giving the pedal a second pump sorted it out
  6. I’ve been surprised at having to top up my 2015 vrs, it’s used approx 1 litre over the 7000 miles I owned it, not excessive but I had a 2010 Leon fr with the 170cr, over 2 years I did 55000 hard miles (it was already on 65000 when I bought it) and I topped the oil up once the whole time, otherwise I never had to touch it between services.
  7. How many miles has it done? Did you have to top up the oil much before the last service? I’d be tempted to give it another oil and filer change to see if that makes any difference
  8. Glad you got it sorted in the end, I had a Golf Gti with the gen1 engine, ended up replacing 2 water pumps (second one within 8k miles under warranty fortunately) and a week after 2 injectors stuck open and had to have them done. Loved the engine but had enough of it being repaired so got rid of it by that point
  9. As far as I know your not going to get extra power from an induction kit on the 2.0 cr engine. There’s a YouTube video Darkside developments did on a Golf GTD with bigger turbo etc and they used the standard air box as they said it was the best option for the engine
  10. I rate Falken azenzis FK510, seem to be rated on some of the tyre tests I’ve watched. Had a set on my old Clio 197, and just replaced the fronts on my Vrs last week with a pair of falkens instantly loads more grip around wet roundabouts than the P zero’s they replaced
  11. Was the car doing this before the manifold and injectors where changed? Maybe worth checking the pipe on the front of the pcv is correctly connected, I had my injectors done and one the way home it started misfiring with erratic idle, when I checked the pipe at the front from the inlet to the pcv it was disconnected, as it’s a bit of a dodgy plastic clip fitting I think it must have not been fully pushed on and had worked loose with the vibrations driving
  12. Oil smelling of petrol isn’t a good thing, I’d be looking at the high pressure fuel pump and injectors to make sure. I had a Mk6 golf gti with the TSI engine and normal oil temp was always 90 plus. I’d be worried petrol is diluting the oil. It was high mileage but had to have the injectors done as 2 got stuck open
  13. My old golf gti did the same, I think generally it’s a trait of the dsg box, I was told one of the signs the mechatronic is failing was a Clunk when stopping and it shifts from 2nd down to 1st gear.
  14. Had my 2015 vrs tdi since august, long distance I get about 50-55mpg, most I’ve seen is about 58mpg but that was really going steady due to slow moving traffic. Reliability wise I had to replace a glow plug. I previously had a 2010 Leon cr170 so similar engine, that was on 66k and I did 50k miles over 2 years in it, only reliability issue I had was the secondary coolant pump failed other that that it gave me no problems
  15. Mine has a slight noise when cold which sounds like a belt turning, no where near as loud as that first video on yours. Cambelt and water pump were changed when I bought the car 5000 miles ago. The 2nd video I can’t hear anything that doesn’t sound the same as mine does. I must admit I don’t think the engine is as refined as my previous 1.6 Honda dtec that was much quieter
  16. Yes they all have oil in, wet and dry refers to the clutches, some are wet and some are dry. I believe the service interval is 40k
  17. My neighbours Citroen has had a similar problem, chatting to him he bought the car earlier in the year and had a DPF problem straight away, he took back to the garage who apparently fitted a new DPF, a few weeks ago while I was washing my car choking on all the soot coming out of his exhaust on cold start I thought tho myself that can’t have a DPF on it and it failed the MOT the other day with a DOF/ emissions issue
  18. I’m not sure about the later cars but from my experience the water pump on the 2.0tsi is unreliable. I had a mk6 golf gti with an earlier version on the 2.0 Tsi and had the water pump replaced twice in 10 months. On the second replacement apparently VW had revised the part again, you would have thought they could have gotten it right after 10 years. Midland vw had about 4 cars in that day also needing water pumps, it seems to still be a problem on later cars and a poor design
  19. I’ve had my 2015 tdi for about 3 months and 3000miles, average mpg I’ve that time is around 45-46, mainly working from home so very short trips, when I am in the office my commute is 24 miles and I get around 55mpg then. Travelled down to Cornwall on saturday 300miles and got 50mpg.
  20. Thanks buddy, I’m guessing what’s happened is it wasn’t quite clipped on completely and has gradually worked loose, luckily it seems far back enough not to have dropped any diesel on the auxiliary belt
  21. So, this morning there was a wet patch behind the drivers front wheel, when I got back from work a strong smell of diesel, looking under the bonnet of of the fuel lines running back from the filter towards the coolant tank was damp, i pushed down on it and it seemed to click into place. Had the car a couple of months and the cambelt was changed before I collected, does anyone know if these pipes would have been disconnected for cambelt change? thanks Andy
  22. Hey everyone, just picked up my 3rd Vrs, previously had a Mk1 Octavia and a Mk1 fabia that came to an unfortunate end
  23. Deffo glad my family is all safe, it's such a shocking thing to happen, always thought of myself as being a decent driver but it doesn't mean you can't have an accident as I've found out, car did well really but can't help feeling I want something bigger now to feel more protected
  24. Also if you zoom in you can see at the top of the alloy two spokes have broken!
  25. Yeah I was wondering that, was trying to press them as to what other people said happened but they weren't very giving with information, I bet if it was the other way around they would want to charge me, Had to do a breathalyser too, guess it's procedure but seemed a bit annoying as we were just trying to get out if the way
