  1. A few picks of the rocker cover. Under close inspection, I can't see any major holes, so I assume the issue is the tiny hole at the injector housing.
  2. The car is a 2012 2.7crdi. It's in really good order other than this issue, so ideally I would like to repair it and save a few quid. Missus currently pestering me to pick up another car, as we live in the middle of nowhere and we are sharing a car. First world problems! I will post a photo of the rocker cover/injectors.
  3. @Breezy_Pete @J.R. Apologies for the tag, guys. You have both been super helpful over the years, so I thought I would chance my arm!
  4. Updated to say that I am fairly confident in general maintenance. Replacing discs, pads, calipers, wiper motors, window regulators, fuel filters, DPF sensors etc. Far from an expert, but always willing to give it a go!
  5. Hi guys, Firstly, apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum. Mods, please feel free to move to the correct place! Having owned several Skoda's, 7 in total, for many years, I bought an i40 as I needed a car quickly about 18 months ago. It currently needs a new injector and rocker cover. I have a really good local garage, amazing in fact, although they couldn't source a rocker cover anywhere. I had the car recovered to my house. So far, the rocker cover is off and the injectors removed - by my garage. One injector is goosed and a hole has been burned in the rocker cover, as a result of the injector issue. If I can source the parts, can anyone tell me exactly what I need? Needless to say, I need a rocker cover and recon injector. It is more about the seals etc. Do I just need an injector seals kit? Or do I need additional items? Watched a few videos, so I have a fair idea of what is required to replace the rocker cover/injector. Just want to be sure that I have all of the kit. That said, any pointers to relevant videos would be gratefully received! Used this site many times for sage advice, so hoping for the same again. Alternatively, willing to pay a reasonable amount for fitting if any competent DIYers are nearby in the Scottish Borders. Thanks in advance, Joe.
  6. Awesome @Breezy_Pete . Sage counsel, as always! Cheers, Joe.
  7. Hi folks, Can anyone help with a part number for the front linkage with the motor included? Or post a link? Not looking for an official part. Cheap as chips will do. It's for a 2009 Roomster. I have found tons on the usual online shops, although they all say they are for a left hand drive. I am looking for a right hand drive. Many thanks, Joe.
  8. Hi guys, On a bit of a punt here... My i40 had smoke coming from the engine bay. Opened it to see oil spattered everywhere. The engine is smoking from somewhere on start up. More when accelerating. Emanating from somewhere to the right of and further down than the filler cap. Also, it looks like a significant amount of oil is leaking underneath. The car is very noisy - rattling, which increases with acceleration. Any ideas on what could be going on? I've posted a few pics. Any pointers gratefully received. Joe.
  9. Thanks @Carlston. Super helpful. Just to be clear, I now need a TRW replacement caliper for a 25 x 288 disc? Would you also replace the carrier at the same time? Thanks again, Joe.
  10. In the interests of clarity, my reg constantly returns 'this item does not fit your vehicle' for the pads I have just taken off and 'this item fits your vehicle' for the new ones I have that don't fit. 🤔
  11. Thanks, Lee. There is something there, although I can't make it out. When I search by reg or even by part number, sometimes there are several options. As an example, ordering the correct discs that came with the wrong pads! Or being told these will fit your vehicle (on a parts site/eBay( when I know from the diameter/width that they won't fit. Just trying to get a better understanding of how to navigate the parts minefield. @Carlston was very helpful with the caliper info yesterday, although more than one option appears when I search for the part number. And when I use the part number from that website for pads, searches often return two options. My old pads and the new ones that don't fit! @Breezy_Pete has also been super helpful, so hopefully one of them will happen along and enlighten me! Cheers, Joe.
  12. Old caliper to replace.
  13. Hi guys, I should just create my own ongoing Roomster thread at this rate. Currently fitting discs/pads to our Roomster after freeing up the caliper pin. I ordered the correct discs, which appear to fit well - 25x288mm. My issue is that the discs/pads came as a package and the pads do not fit. I am having a real parts nightmare. New pads now required. I am also about to order a new offside caliper, although I am not brimming with confidence on ordering the correct parts. Can anyone explain to me how to figure out the correct parts to save me pestering people on the forum? I have posted pics of old and new pads together with a picture of the new disc I have fitted, and the old caliper that needs to be replaced. Any help gratefully received. Cheers, Joe.
  14. Hi guys, Back again looking for some part number help... Was about to change the front discs/pads on the Roomster. Guide pin stuck in near side carrier and piston won't compress on offside. During my faffing about, I managed to take both pistons out of the cylinders. At this point, I figure it would be easier to just replace the calipers. My car has 288mm diameter discs. All of the calipers seem to be for 256 or 280 and they state NOT for 288mm brakes. Can anyone help with part numbers for the calipers and carriers? Vin - TMBMF65J595036237 Cheers, Joe.
  15. Great stuff, Pete. Thanks for that. I'll have a scout around and measure up for additional certainty! Cheers, Joe.
  16. Thanks, Pete. The reg is SJ09 NKZ. I checked the second number down in the first column on the build sticker, as per the advice from some eBay sellers. That number corresponded to the ABS on mine IIRC. Cheers, Joe.
  17. Hi guys, I am not 100% certain on which front discs to buy for our Roomster. 2009 1.4D 80BHP. All of the eBay sellers match my car with the 256mm front brakes based on the reg plate, although the PR number does not match with mine on their listings. I have read the few available threads on this topic and I do not have the FS III on my calipers. I've taken the wheels off and nothing is on the calipers. The current front discs are 288mm, and even though I would have hoped that the last disc change would have been correct, I have no way of being certain, especially as some of the online info suggests that smaller engines would generally have 256 discs. Trying to find this info has taken longer than the job will! Any pointers on how to find the correct size? Tried a couple of vin searches that returned as being unrecognised, so that was helpful. Cheers, Joe.
  18. Hi folks, Can anyone tell me how to remove the headlamp range adjuster switch? I tried removing the headlamp switch to access it from there, but no joy. Cheers, Joe.
  19. Hi folks, The wife's Roomster has just failed it's MOT. I am struggling to resolve two major defects, despite quite a bit of research both here and beyond! Both headlamp levellers are inoperative. Checked the fuse and it seems fine. Any ideas on what would cause both to stop working? I think it is unlikely that both motors would go at the same time. The switch perhaps? The airbag light is on. I was fixing something a couple of months ago, which resulted in me checking all of the fuses. Pretty sure it came on after this... I have read the thread that JR posted and the link to a potential electrical wiring issue under the driver's seat. JR mentioned that he managed to disconnect and reconnect by feel without unbolting the front seats and this solved the problem. Could anyone provide a little more into on how to go about this? Pretty sure I have located the correct connector. Watched a video about bolting the sensor together under the car to solve the levelling issue, but couldn't locate this on ours. Also, my old OBD2 reader is not detecting any faults when I scan, which means that I cannot reset any codes. Is this normal? Our garage that carried out the MOT cannot fix it and suggested that an electrics specialist would be required. Don't really have the cash for costly auto electrician investigations at the moment. Any pointers on either issue would be hugely appreciated. Cheers, Joe.
  20. Hi guys, I am back with another issue with our Roomster. The handbrake is not working on one side. It seems like the cable may have stretched and the handbrake does not work on the drivers side. Can anyone give me a starter for 10 on the fix required? Is it DIYable with a set of axle stands? I have all the tools required. I just need the know how! I have attached a pic of the situation. The cables keep coming loose from the the little housing bracket that keeps them in equilibrium. Not sure of the exact name! When you pull the handbrake, one side pulls right out causing the bracket to be totally lop sided and occasionally both cables drop out of the bracket. If you pull the handbrake gently, it will engage on the left hand side, although the bracket is again very lop sided. Hope that makes sense! Cheers, Joe.
  21. Success! Managed to change both sides. Some serious brute force was required to wind the rear left piston in. If anyone encounters the same problem, it helps massively to attach the caliper back on with the screws tightened a bit. This keeps the piston fixed on one place, which allows you to really apply some force when rewinding it. Once the piston was on a bit, I then had enough space to use the rewind tool. Huge thank you to all of you for your help! Greatly appreciated. J. P.S. The brakes are not working properly unless you pump them a few times, so I guess it's time to learn how to bleed the system.
  22. One side of our handbrake doesn't work. Would that have any effect on this?
  23. Changed the RHS without issue after winding the piston in a bit. Still stumped on LHS. The piston just keeps turning but not going in. Must have done hundreds of revolutions.
  24. Still no progress on LHS. This is what the RHS looks like with everything removed. Is that piston already wound in enough?
