Handbrake Issue - Only one side working

Featured Replies

Screenshot_20250315-121620.pngHi guys,

I am back with another issue with our Roomster.

The handbrake is not working on one side. It seems like the cable may have stretched and the handbrake does not work on the drivers side.

Can anyone give me a starter for 10 on the fix required?

Is it DIYable with a set of axle stands? I have all the tools required. I just need the know how!

I have attached a pic of the situation. The cables keep coming loose from the the little housing bracket that keeps them in equilibrium. Not sure of the exact name!

When you pull the handbrake, one side pulls right out causing the bracket to be totally lop sided and occasionally both cables drop out of the bracket.

If you pull the handbrake gently, it will engage on the left hand side, although the bracket is again very lop sided. Hope that makes sense!

Cheers,

Joe.

You will most likely need to rebuild or replace the calliper, the cable will be fine.
