  1. On long drives I eat at start or end, I may snack very lightly en route, I never stop for a main meal such as lunch, tea or evening meal at a restaurant or cafe.
  2. My hourly rate of pay is between £32.50 and £48 per hour. That increases again by 5% in April and another 3% minimum 2022.
  3. If I'm going long distance, I'll usually run non stop from home to Cheshire and beyond, do the business I have to do and then straight back (drop off parts or collect parts etc) and straight back or across to Folkestone for the CT (don't visit the terminal apart of a "comfort break") of a very few mins if that, otherwise straight onto the shuttle and away on the French side. I don't usually return from Cheshire via the direct route, often returning via Cotswolds if it's summer, although I will go back the more direct way if it's late autumn or winter and dark. It's still 345 miles there and back and roughly 6½ hrs driving with minimal stopping, of course you're going to have to factor in additional load for headlights, heating etc in winter. It's a long day and I don't want to be sitting around at a charging point for any length of time more than what I would be for filling the car up with petrol. A trip from home to Somerset and back is 300 miles or more, again it would require a >30' stop to go there and back and have you tried to find a charging point in the West Country or on the more open stretches of the A303? There aren't any. An EV isn't a viable option or proposition for the foreseeable future. Not until they can do a ultra fast charge that does the same as a petrol pump.
  4. Nope. Not only ugly, but not enough range, nowhere near enough recharging points and they're all way too slow. Several times a year I do runs of 350+ miles in a day and I don't want to be sitting around for ages whilst the stupid thing is charged back up. Petrol can be filled from 0 to 100% in a matter of a couple of minutes or so, so unless or until they can do the same with charging, I'll be staying firmly in the internal combustion engine camp.
  5. Does my bumper look big in this asks Shy?
  6. These pictures are too much.
  7. Oh god, I think I'm going to be sick.
  8. If you are at all worried get it done, at least that way if you do have any starting or running issues it's a ✔ in the box that will automatically eliminate one of the possible issues, therefore saving time and money of a technician.
  9. Mine sometimes goes around a bit before it engages and opens. The one thing I've always wanted is a locking petrol cap for it, so even if some thieving scumbag prises open the filler flap to steal the fuel, they're going to find a locked cap there.😈
  10. If you look after it, keep it clean and tidy, plus serviced as it says then there's no reason for you not to have many years of fault free driving. Look after it, it'll return the compliment.
  11. Tyre puncture foam, is the work of Satan. Use it and a repairable puncture becomes irreparable and a new tyre is required. The bloody stuff should be banned.
  12. A map download should take around about 30 mins on a good connection, several hours on a bad one, my PC copies (unzips) the download to the memory card in about 15-20 mins or so. No real need to keep the old maps, they just clutter up you hard drive, if you really want to I suppose you can always archive them to a bluray disc.
  13. Good move. What did you get instead?
  14. Do you think that anyone here would post a malicious link? I think not! I've never known anyone post anything other than a useful one.
  15. Buy packet of them from Halfords. They're a standard size/colours
  16. Well it'll be installed later.
  17. Well I know that people on here have been advocates of the Brodit clip for years, I've had them on my car upto the last blue RS, not the last car which was grey. Never been any problems with them in the past, if there were major safety issues then they wouldn't be able to sell them. Also Brodit are a Swedish company and the Swedish are renowned for their safety and not taking risks and in car safety is taken extremely seriously. I can't install a vent clip as I have too many stalks on the steering column, I don't like anything across the infotainment system screen either it's a bit like the prats on the road who install a sat nav on the windscreen directly above the dashboard binnacle/steering wheel directly in the line of vision. It's an ABSOLUTE NO NO. 😡
  18. I haven't got them. Nothing there.
  19. No airbag markings on A pillar on mine.
  20. Brodit clips have been around for ages, I haven't got side airbags fitted as far as I know, I never specified them when I ordered it. I wont stick anything on the dashboard as it leaves a nasty ring on it, which doesn't go away, also the power cord drapes over the sat nav screen, I can't use any vent ones as the device blocks either the cruise control/indicator or wiper stalks. https://www.brodit.co.uk/brodit/vehicles/Skoda/Octavia+III/2019/604887.htm
  21. Hi. Can anyone tell me if I get a Brodit Clip to attach to the A pillar, will it accept a Galaxy S20+ 5G without any issues such as blocking the air vent, interfering/stopping the use of any stalk controls. What I actually intend to do is mount a Baseus wireless charger on it using the Garmin sat nav ball mount, the charger is really good and fast but the wretched mount they give you is 💩, as it vibrates badly and eventually falls off! 🤦‍♂️ So I need something up to the job. The above device is available from Aliexpress for £21, buy in the UK it £42!
  22. Is this the sort of thing you want?
  23. I used to find the wires in any windscreen quite a distraction, now I don't, I just see straight through them. It's just a case of getting used to them.
