  1. With 50k on the clock my set of All Seasons Goodyear Tyres have about 5k miles left in them. I have manage to pick up 2 slow punctures over the last 4.5 years both picked up timely by the TPMS system. I was lucky it was nails in the mid tread and were easily repaired. With regards to electrical faults my SEL system was bordering on rubbish for the first 18 months with many temporary intermittent quirks. The car had a software update that was done over night and all problems went away (reversing camera intermittently not working was a bummer now fixed) Everything has been working great for the last 2 years. Apart from servicing and tyres no other outlays. My 5 year extended warranty is up at the end of the year will I get another new Scala I doubt it the price with all my current extras is getting close to 30k.
  2. Another question - can you permanently turn of speed limit warnings? I know lane assist has to be turned off manually every time, but can you permanently disable the beeping when you drive over the limit? Yes I did it on my 2019 SEL DSG Scala with a Carista OBD scanner sadly not stop start or lane assist control.
  3. My 2019 Scala quiet with 51k miles on the clock
  4. Cam belt at 50k miles I think this has been changed dramatically according to VAG, way over 100k
  5. To install a Auto Start Stop Disable Plug
  6. Anyone have a clue how to remove the stop start button
  7. Anyone know how to remove this button preferably not breaking it Many thanks in anticipation
  8. After trawling the net apparently VW have put out to all their dealers that the interval for changing the timing belt on the 1ltr engines has now been changed to 150k miles. This also applies also to all Skoda and Seat cars good news for a change.
  9. I have had my Scala for over 4 years now (I have previously owned 5 other Skoda Cars this is the best yet). Apart from a few glitches with the infotainment system (sorted with a firmware update) the car has been faultless now covering 42k Miles. I plumped for the SEL 1ltr DSG with a few extras as this was going to be a keeper. I went for heated front screen, electric front seats, electric tail lift, and best of all adaptive cruise control. The adaptive cruise is fantastic on motorways set it at the regulation 70 mph and the car gets you easily to 60 mpg fuel consumption. The car has never needed an oil top-up between services. I managed 25k out of my first set of tyres, the car was greatly improved with the all seasons now on it an they look good for another 10k. I have extended Skoda 5 year warranty with 8 months left on it , I had it valued recently for a part exchange it came out at £10.5k, the same car today with my spec is well over 26k now I think I will keep this one thank you. Never use the built in satnav it is pants compared to Waze on apple car play. A big bill soon as I have been told it needs a timing belt changed at 5 years or 50k miles). All in all from my experience this is a very good car for our needs shame the price of insurance has gone through the roof, down to the costly repair bills for electric vehicles I have been told. Just one niggle cant permanently turn off the stop start or can that now be done by OBD please advise.
  10. I have just done 40k miles with a lot of motorway journeys Motorway speeds with my DSG and Adaptive Cruse set at mostly 72 mph mid 50's all the time dial it back to 65 the mpg can be a little higher.
  11. Hi I had a similar problem with the infotainment system completely locking up. I put up with it rather annoyingly for 2 years. I mentioned it on my first 2 services and all I got was shrugs from the service manager. Recently I was staying in Weston-super-Mare and I booked a service at their Skoda garage. Their service people were well aware of the problem. They needed the car for an extra day and did a full factory reset of the system. They updated the software and hey presto everything has been perfect for the last 2 months. No more freezing of the screen the reversing camera comes on immediately. The heating controls are all working correctly, the iPhone connects all the time. My car is a late 2019 SEL Scala. Lastly Weston Skoda picked up my car from where I was staying and delivered it back when completed, my local garages in Hertfordshire do not or would not offer this service, thank you Heritage Skoda Weston-super-Mare.
  12. About 1 in 10 journeys the screen on my 2.5 year old SEL will go blank. Sometimes it will come back but normally I will have to stop and restart the car. Drove the car very early this morning all started OK then it went blank as I was on the motorway I decided to not stop. The car after a while started to fog up on the windscreen but I had no way to adjust the heating controls. The quick heater adjustment button had no effect and the screen would not turn on. Trying to sort this out doing 70 mph was dangerous so I had to dive into a service station and do the stop start trick. As per normal the restart sorted out the problem. I have reported this to my dealer on the last 2 services my car is at the end of its warranty soon do I need to insist on a new unit or will a software reset and update sort it. They say they need the car for 24 hours to sort out the software. As the garage is over 10 miles away and they never seem to have a replacement vehicle things are a bit inconvenient as means 3 bus changes to get home. Seriously thinking of going for a Honda. Comments please.
  13. Always been silent on mine
  14. My 2 year old DSG Scala had it’s second 18k service and they said the brakes were all good for many more miles. I have now done over 21k and they look just fine with minimal signs of wear. My last 3 Fabia’s all DSG with 30k+ miles we’re all sold on without ever having to change brake parts.
  15. I have SEL DSG this Things I like Adaptive Cruise Control brilliant on motorway journeys Heated Font Screen an absolute must Electric tail lift keeps the wife very happy Electric drivers seat helps with arthritic hands Great petrol consumption at motorway speeds Things that annoy me Lane control no permanent turn off Infotainment system cronky stop start no permanent turn off Heater controls too fiddly Sat nav next to useless Up to 5 seconds wait for reversing camera to come on at times Boy this thing rattles on bad road surfaces Would I buy another one That’s a hard one
  16. Hi Before I purchase a OBD eleven next gen Very simple can you definitely turn off stop start and lane assist I have a late 2019 Scala SEL I have Carista and that failed miserably Thanks
  17. airhaddodock VVVWCER Car Accessories Store Ali Express I would thing twice before I would trust my £20k Scala to £14 cable direct from China
  18. My Scala with 17k miles still very smooth no clunks or noises. Sling it back at the dealer.
  19. Skoda satnav save your money. I mispronounces English names and is without doubt the clunkiest system I have ever used bordering on abysmal. Waze through iPhone is far superior
  20. I have as extra’s :- Extended 5-year warranty as my Scala SEL DSG is a keeper Front and rear parking sensors, essential the wife drives 50% of time only 4”11 tall Rear view reversing camera great if not in hurry as it can take up to 30 seconds from car start up to come on Electric adjustable drivers seat again essential as wife has weak hands Built in Satnav a waste of money Google or Waze far better and free Adaptive cruse control, we do a lot of motorway driving, the best feature on the extra’s list Heated front windscreen, cannot live without in the winter car kept outside USB socket at the top of windscreen for forward security camera (put in privately) 12v socket in boot (put in privately cheated by Skoda as on the list as standard when car was first ordered) One extra I would like old fashioned heater controls
  21. My 1.0 Scala DSG SEL had a 9000 mile oil change and service in January this year it did not use a drop in it's first year of use. I regularly check the oil levels (when cold on level ground) and they have always been OK never needs topping up. I guess it may change when the engine gets older with more miles but to be honest my last 5 Skoda cars were all frugal with oil.
  22. The Sat Nav in my Scala is not fit for purpose, It is unreliable clunky and cannot pronounce UK place names correctly. Much prefer Waze through the iPhone.
  23. I have had 5 Skoda Cars with DSG gearboxes, the first being a Yeti that blew 2 sets of DSG clutches while under warranty. (I got rid at 3 years). We have had 3 DSG Fabia's all covered 30K miles plus all worked faultlessly (now sold on) My car at the moment is the 1ltr SEL Scala DSG with 11k miles on the clock, glad to say it is the smoothest Skoda DSG to date. I have found the DSG box is the very best for my budget. Far better than the 5 Fords 6 Vauxhalls 3 Nissan automatics that I have owned in my lifetime of driving. Without doubt the car with the most dangerous and god awful auto box was the wife's little Skoda Citigo it went back after 3 months for a Fabia DSG.
  24. Not a problem on a DSG but if I could permanently turn of lane control and stop start. Adaptive cruise control is great on long motorway journeys once you have the confidence to trust it. Blower controls in the hot weather are absolute **** on my SEL you have to go into the infotainment system to adjust which is mad and dangerous.
  25. Drove 454 miles this Sunday Hertfordshire to Dunkeld in Scotland. Filled the car to the brim and it said 475 mile range. 8 hour drive later still saying 175 miles left in the tank average speed 55mph 59 miles to the gallon reported from start of journey happy days.
