SE L 1.0 115 DSG fuel economy
Had my 1.0 115ps DSG SE-L for 13 months now covering 11k miles Good News Just done a 340 mile round trip got 56.8 MPG mostly UIK motorway sticking to 95% of speed limits have had 60+ last summer when warm. Bad News Because of the UK Covid lockdowns I have done a ton of short journeys mostly 3 to 4 miles to the shops rarely getting up to temperature My average MPG from new is now just 37.6 MPG Good News My battery has fully topped up at last as the rotten stop start has come back to life The infotainment system leaves a lot to be desired (All VAG cars are getting a very bad press over this) but the adaptive cruise control is wonderful on motorways

Scala SEL Sat Nav queries
Gave up in the Skoda satnav very clunky and has a job pronouncing names in English. I now use Waze through my phone a far superior experience

Front seats - comfortable?
Hi I have a SEL DSG with electric drivers seat, it's great for the wife as she has arthritic hands. Comfort wise the Scala is far better than our 3 previous Fabia's and Yeti. All round our most comfy Skoda to date, let down by the infotainment system. Recently got a new Android phone Xiaomi Mi Lte 5g it works flawlessly with Android Auto and Waze, I don't have to use the Skoda Sat Nav abomination. happy bunny

Hidden USB-C port in rear-view mirror
I had one put in by a VAG approved company, I supplied my existing Nextbase camera and wiring from my old Fabia they charged me about £100 including VAT. They did an excellent neat job wired it into the fuse box it turns on and off with the ignition. A bit cheaper than the factory fitted jobbie. I would have installed it myself as I did it on my previous 2 Fabia estates but that lump that holds the rear view mirror was a bit too tricky to wire around.

2019 Skoda Scala 1.0 dsg
If the garage is serious ask them to put in a new fully charged battery and reset the electrics . Old school cars you would be lucky to get an ignition light on let alone a full dashboard full. Cant help feeling there is some more than a flat battery. My friend had a similar problem when he changed his battery on his Polo had to get it rigged up to a VW computer and do a software reset.

Scala SEL. Thoughts after 6 months
Sorry On Max my car just blows mainly on the front screen not on the side windows I should add I have gone for the heated front screen option that works great but I still need more air on the side windows and max is not hacking it

Scala SEL. Thoughts after 6 months
Heater controls In UK’s cold damp winters try demisting side windows on automatic it takes ages In summer when you want to feel extra cool breeze on your face you cannot do that on automatic Bring back nobs Lane detection control I regularly do 40+ miles an hour on my local country roads, it is not for the fainthearted to have lane control on and it scares the bejesus out of the wife when she is driving Skoda Sat Nav give this a wide berth very disappointing Before anyone says you should have realised this when you purchased the car try buying a SEL spec without buying into this rubbish. On the + side Love Adaptive Cruise Control Electric front seats are Fab but would be perfect if it had the 3-memory function like the Superb. Electric tail gate is exceptionally good MPG on the 1.0 DSG is great on long journeys 60+ until the lockdown came short journeys lucky to get 35 Compared to the last 3 Fabia’s the electric seats are very comfy and no movement apart from when you want it. The first yearly service next week, I have done 9000+ miles not had to top up the oil. The lights are far better than my 5 previous Skoda cars Great boot space All round a great little car let down by over ambitious Heater controls and Lane detection.

Scala SEL checklist on start-up
Again climate control in Auto does a great job. Well no So my SEL is on auto mode side windows steaming up in this cold damp weather in UK I still have to go into settings to get more warm air on the side windows I had 2 Nissans that had reversing cameras they worked brilliantly for an old codger that has trouble twisting round to see out of the back window. I hoped the Skoda fitted ones would be as good but sorry they are pants. Stop start on a DSG is also bordering on dangerous, the auto box is not smoothly taking into account that the engine has been turned off hence quite a bad hesitation pulling out especially on busy A roads. (As an example if I didn't want to spend time getting my car in and out of the garage I wouldn't put it in there, so to me it begs the question - if you didn't want all these features, why did you buy it?) in the main I don't mind the features I just want them to work properly !!!!!

Scala SEL checklist on start-up
Vast numbers of Skoda drivers never use this forum so I guess there may be a few oldies been in a ditch. I am an advanced driver and in my own personal opinion lane control needs a bit more work before inflicting on all new Skoda cars. Alternatively can we have the ability to turn it off permanently along with stop start.

Scala SEL checklist on start-up
Turn on engine Turn off share my position message Turn off software updates message Turn off stop start Turn off lane assist if don't fancy ending up in a ditch Sort out heater preferences impossible to fine tune while driving Turn off software updates again it says it is up to date when you manually check with the engine off. Wait 30 seconds for reversing camera to come on if ever And we are away hopefully trying to reverse out of the drive safely The dealership have seen this, their answer most of these measures are there for my safety and the environment I say it is all a load of old bo…cks Oh I forgot the Skoda connect message that blocks all the others on start up as it tries to connect (wait another 30 seconds) , new owners do yourself a favour never activate this useless piece of c..p

Updated Spaceback.
We had 3 Fabia's, 2 being MK3 estates. Had my Scala nearly a year now and I would never go back to a Fabia. Firstly it is so much more comfortable than the Fabia. I regularly do a 4 hour drive I used to crawl out of the Fabia full of aches and pain not so in the Scala. The seats are so much more supportive and all round the Scala is so much better to drive. The Fabia estate had a great boot space but the Scala is almost the best in class for space and not far behind. The only thing I miss from the Fabia is the simple to use controls. The infotainment system and heater control's are a nightmare on all the new Skoda cars and are simply not clever. I have to go through a tick list to turn things on or off every time I use the car. MPG overall my 1.0 Scala I am finding is better than than the Fabia's. I have a DSG gearbox the last Fabia had it's clutches replaced twice in the first 30k miles, I have now done nearly 10K miles in the Scala and the gearbox is ultra smooth. Overall the SEL DSG Scala is a very good car let down by a fiddly infotainment system. Buying again I would go for the SE and upgrade to the things I like Lastly if you have a DSG box and you do a lot of Motorway driving adaptive cruise control is fantastic, I had it on my last Fabia and it was the number one on my list of upgrades for the Scala One more thing do not get the Skoda satnav system it is awful save your money use Waze through your mobile it's free No chance on a Scala estate it would clash with the Octavia

10000 km with Skoda Scala
11 months old with 9k Miles Lane assist bordering on suicidal to use a must turn off The infotainment system is rubbish constant blank screen on start-up, the garage have seen it and have reported it to Skoda but no cure yet The heater and aircon controls are awful Paid out for onboard satnav it is awful to use now only use Waze far far superior and free Reversing camera takes 30 seconds to come on when the car starts up Stop Start cannot be permanently turned off unlike my other 5 Skoda cars Adaptive cruse control brilliant on long motorway journeys It is a very comfy car on long distance drives Great MPG (60+ miles to the gallon at normal UK motorway speeds) Love the electric seats but wish it had a memory setting like the Superb The DSG box is silky smooth (I have the 1.0 SEL) Has all the grunt I will ever need Great size Boot Wife loves the electric tailgate The dealership service in our area is now pants since being taken over Overall a good car let down by a very badly by the numerous tech issues (I have only listed a few) Would I buy another Skoda nope will wait for a £20 to £25 grand electric car that can do 400+ miles on a single charge (this will soon be possible remember the batteries on early phones)

Lane assist is dangerous
Hi I have a Scala (almost the same car but not on stilts) same problem with lane control it's a must turn off every time I get in the car along with stop start , software updates, and other senseless notifications. I have tried Carista no joy in turning off stop start or lane control and precious little else that you can't do anyway. I get a blank screen for up to 30 seconds every 2 or 3 engine starts the dealers says you need patience so every thing works correctly, no good when you want to reverse out of the drive with reversing camera not working until the screen comes back on. They say they will get in touch with Skoda to log it as a fault. If we get a bad trade deal off the EU it will endeavour to never buy another EU built car again. With the trade deal with Japan signed hopefully the prices should be competitive.

Traffic Sign Recognition
I have a SEL DSG with loads of extra's The UK spec has Satnav built in, sadly it is the biggest piece of S..t imaginable. Very slow at map updates and continually asks to do a u turn instead of working out new more direct route No speed or traffic sign recognition The post code is a lottery with no road names It is rubbish at pronouncing English place names or though some are very funny at times It is the most god awful clunky piece of rubbish I have ever used an entry level 10 year old TomTom would wipe the floor with it If you want a very good all rounder use Waze through your mobile it has 95% of the things you need in a Satnav. it's free uses very little data works great through Apple Carplay Rant over

DSG noise
I had 2 dsg boxes changed in my 1.2 Yeti they got it sorted in the end I have had 3 mk3 Fabia’s in the family with dsg boxes all faultless and quiet I now have a Scala 1.0 SEL with a dsg box with 6K miles faultless box and quiet If not happy throw it back at them as in my experience they are one of the quietest automatics around. 6 months in still being plagued with continual requests for software updates when the control unit says it is up to date argggggh

Kamiq automatic gearbox problems at Hendy Skoda Bournemouth
Hi I have a 1.0 DSG SEL Scala (same engine and gearbox) , it is now 8 months old with 6000 miles on the clock glad to say I have never had this problem.

Bolero screen dark mode(!)
Mine has done this quite a few times on my SEL plus reversing camera will not work, heater controls not working. Have To restart the car and things then get back to normal apart from the reminder to update the software every half hour. If you go into the settings it says the software is up to date !!!! Apparently it needs to go into the dealers for an update on their equipment. I will wait for the first service and get it done at the same time. I still enjoy driving the Scala the DSG box is superb, adore the adaptive cruise control as I do a fair amount of motorway driving. Keeping to the speed limits regularly gets me 55+ MPG The electric seats are really comfortable I used crawl out of my last Fabia a aching wreck after 3 hours.

Dashcam (without usb-c port on visor)
I was hoping they left the wiring in the boot for the 12v adapter that was standard on all Scala SEL models pre September 2019 no such luck. I would not hold your breath with the wiring by the sun visor. I had the wiring for my dash cam professionally done in Jan this year cost me £90 by a company that mainly deals with VW cars I provided the parts. Sorry to say no wiring left in my Jan 2020 Scala by Skoda for a dash cam.

Scala Row 1 Seat Issue (Manual Seats)
No problem with my electric seat apart from the wife leaving it in her position. Wish it had the 3 memory that the have on the Superb
