  1. TPMS, I'll Google that.... lol, never before had a car with so much tech!!! Thanks for the heads up! Tyre wise, they'll be scrubbed by the second corner
  2. Yes this is my first ever brand new car! My '04 mk1 fabia vrs was ex-demo and 1 owner but was only 6 months and 6k old when I got it, had it 9 years, it had couple subtle mods but kept it looking standard and was an awesome car!!!
  3. I used to work in Cumbria an was gonna go up there for old times sake to see an old work mate but think he's gone away on holiday, maybe go anyway just to make sure he's not in, it's only 280 miles each way.... Still excited
  4. How excited am I ........ TTTHHHIIISSS MMMUUUCCCHHH!!!!!!!!!!  Due to pick her up Friday and bingo, she is wearing a set of continentals! Also has some nice vrs badges on steering wheels and DSG gear stick that I don't recall seeing before but they are a nice touch, I like! I forgot to take photos but anyone else seen these?
  5. WOW.... Sir you are a legend!!! I had no idea!!! I read last couple pages briefly but will read in full when I'm back in front of my pc!!!
  6. Lol, awesome, a citigo with GO! I'll look forward to seeing that!!! My fabia will probably be 100% standard and I don't know what way Bedford goes so not expecting great lap times.
  7. Thanks for adding me BossFox! I take it your citigo has more go than the nogo i currently have key for?! It is soooooooooo slow and you need to be hyper sensitive to get a feel for where the front end is. My hat goes off to you for taking on a track based on my experience of one.
  8. Only just found this, I'm up for ruining the original fit Dunlop's so I have excuse to fit some propper tyres! Count me in!
  9. Dealer said three weeks but I'm being relistc and not getting excited until i get the call to say all is well and she's ready to collect, the track is best place to run these things in by all acounts....
  10. I had call from dealer couple days ago to say my car is now in build, was given week 6 build date in November when the order was confirmed, so just maybe will have the vrs by then?! The renta on a trackday would be a laugh but slick gear changes are near on impossible because holds onto the rev's when you change and that does my nut in, but the fact that despite my best efforts to teach it to consume more fuel and air mix it has a distinct stubbornness to do anything worthwhile with it....
  11. Do you know of anyone that's tried a damper package in conjunction with either the H&R or eibach springs and RARB?
  12. I had same problems trying to find pads for the mk1 vrs first time round in 2005 it was a nightmare at the time.
  13. What he said!!! Except the out of fold bit, that lost me a bit.
  14. Question for the OP, are you looking to upgrade the brakes performance or simply change worn out pads but not wanting to pay premium for OEM replacement from skoda? I tried some Brembo OEM replacement pads from click4carparts on ebay in my mk1 last time they were changed and found them to be very good for general road use and the odd mad five min's also they were very well priced!! Click4carparts are very helpful too, its bit of a pain but take a pad out and draw round and make note of whether the pad has wear indicators retaining springs etc and a dimension or two in case electronic gadgets resize when sending, then email of fax to them with car make model and they will match them to what you need, probably give you some choice of different brands and there level of use if you ask, i.e. stock replacement, fast road or track.
  15. Happy New Year to you too Sparkly and everyone else here on Briskie. Vrs owners by law should not be looking at mpg figures on there car! The mpg is good for the speed it returns, that's all we need to know ;-) I would like to get to a couple meets this year and meet some fellow enthusiasts as I spent 9 years with a mk1 vrs all on my lonesome with no one to play with, that's my goal in 2014... Hope its a good one for all!!! Wrighty
  16. Congratulations on your new purchase! Good to hear that some people do still live in the real world. You wanted a deal (understandably so, who doesn't) but you also so understand a compromise along the line has to be taken, pat yourself on the back iSamage, for that thinking you deserve a deal and the dealer sounds like they will have a good customer provided they hold there end of the deal and looker after you during your ownership. Enjoy and keep us posted when you get it!
  17. Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 2's, though having said that I've driven a mk2 with them on only a mk1 but they pinned the front end into the tarmac a treat!!! A guy at work also put a set on his golf gt tdi and he loves them, also a customer of mine put a set on his mk1 LE vrs after complaining about the way the car drove in general, it had a set of budgets on it I'd never heard of, he wanted me to drive it to get my thoughts, I said its a was of time unless you put some proppa rubber on it. Eventually he did and I didn't need to drive it to give my opinion, he turned up at my workshop grinning from ear to ear and said "wish I'd done that 18 months ago" Horse to water an all that, will put a set on my mk2 asap when i get it. They will be a safe bet in MO. You didn't spell out what tyre you are currently running?
  18. Thanks Marty, sounds familiar to the mk1 vrs, lowering should help, I don't have experience of an rarb, but I will try one when I finally get my mk2, it feels like eternity waiting. I always ran Goodyear Eagle F1's on the mk1 and found that driving it like a go-kart bought out the best of front end grip avalible. This is how i found worked for me. When entering the corner be off throttle or better still trail braking with ever decreasing pressure on the pedal until you get to the apex and be smooth, this helps push the weight in to the nose of the car and aids the outside front tyre to grip, onec you hit apex and start to open out the steering to exit the corner start to re-apply throttle smoothly and this allows best use of tyre grip for traction off corner, you should start to feel where the grip is. This tends to work best at medium to low speed corners as faster stuff the nutural safe handling is a nice balence. Just to note that this is just my opinion so it may not work for others and it takes practice to understand but if you try it please be responsible about where you practice this, I take no resposiblity for someone else's snotted up tyres ;-)
  19. Hi Marty, good to here the weights are off, the most obvious reason for the weights to be there is to slow the vrs down and make it look below par when compared to the other vag brands, well at least on paper. This is just my penny worth and could be a mile off but the weights may make it pitch heavier to the rear from a fast standing start which would help induce wheel spin and electronic intervention which could easily add those few extra tenths to the 0-60 times published and my theory in my head would say that the estate though 5kg lighter overall has an equally similar tendency because the weight in the body sits higher up and more rear bound and that brings me on to another point that the vrs as standard rides taller than the polo, Ibiza and A1, this would also contribute to the pitching effect. Marty, does it understeer both on and off throttle? Wrighty
  20. Seriously! No I wasn't being serious about drilling a hole and plugging with a tyre value, though it did actually happen. I didn't carry out the work though and to put your mind at rest the car was repaired properly when back in the UK (we were working away in France)
  21. Modern cars have filler necks that are designed to be anti syphon so its a pain to get fuel out, maybe you will have to investigate under the rear seats to find the fuel pump and see if access to to remove the fuel can be had there? I have seen a desperate person drill a hole in the bottom of a tank on an A4 to get the petrol out so he could put its preferred diesel back in, my advice then was to pick a drill size to suit a tyre valve (we had one in the toolbox) and plugged the hole with that. Oh if you do go this way I would also recommend a plastic bag over the drill to make sure the fuel doesn't ignite on the electrical sparks inside as the fuel floods out all over it!!!
  22. My first Christmas with you guys here on briskoda and my first Christmas without a fabia vrs for 9 years, bit ying-yang. Have a good one everyone!
  23. They look very similar to Goodyear's eagle F1 before they got replaced by the AS2 version. Anyway back to question in hand,I would love to sign up but can't be shore when I will get my car and taking along a loaned citigo courtesy car might be concidered as taking liberties rather than grateful for the dealership advertising. Would be a funny story to look back on though.....
  24. Eagle F1's, it's an no brainer!!! From experience the new AS2's are really good!
