  1. I have Goodyear Asy 5s. Recently pipped the PS4 to top spot on tests as they handle the same but are a lot cheaper.
  2. I would phone darkside and they will tell you if it fits.
  3. No known faults I can think of but I was thinking it might be a fault with the clutch unit itself. My dad had a similar fault (albeit not on a Skoda). His car would stall easily and it turned out to be a clutch release bearing had failed.
  4. The way I see it is that any car costs are a lottery. Some cars can be hassle free and others be nothing but trouble. As long as a car is serviced and taken care off it will get way beyond the 100,000 miles mark. You will need to change the cambelt and water pump at some point. Prices range from £350 ish up to £500 at main dealers. The main issue with higher mileagr diesels will be the dpf, as they do block and will eventually need replacing. You can just get them cleaned properly for a lot less and it will be as good as new. Taxi drivers use these cars and swear by the reliability of the Octavia.
  5. Yes that is the one. Fits really well and cant fault it for the money.
  6. I got mine from carmats4u. Very pleased with it and has a decent sized lip on it. So far nothing has overspilled out of it.
  7. The issue might not be software. It might be a clutch issue.
  8. Im sure the gearbox wont thankyou for doing to many low down pulls 🙈 The VAG 2 litre engine is a fantastic unit in both petrol and diesel. Miss my old 2.0 TFSi
  9. It was on the adaption list on obdeleven. I went to the brake control unit and it was in there.
  10. If you have any doubts about the service history and what has or has not been done. I would just get things such as spark plugs, air and pollen filter, oil and filter, dsg serviced, brake fluid changed. That way you know it has been done. I got my car that had been serviced by Skoda and there was no record of the DSG being serviced at 40,000 miles. My car was at 59,000 when I got it so I had it serviced the other week when fund's allowed. You are covered for 6 months from the date of purchase under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 so ignore any 3 month warranty a garage will say.
  11. Been doing some coding as well. Changed the throttle to linear and my engine code to audi. Also altered the starting vibration reduction. I saw that most deactivated it but I put it from strong to normal. The torque limiter in 1st and 2nd gear was already deactivated as standard. The car feels loads more positive on starting and acceleration. It is amazing what a few minutes of coding can do to improve the car.
  12. I forgot to mention it was not coded as an AGM battery.
  13. I purchased OBDeleven and ran a scan on my car. It was more to see a more detailed view of my glow plug fault that keeps oncoming back despite fitting new plugs and glow plug relay. On the scan it showed a fault in each driver and passenger door. A fault on the can gateway of high voltage. After doing a few adaption changes to car I realised that the battery was coded as 68ah where as it is actually a 70ah battery. I recoded the battery and since then all the electrical faults have disappeared. Amazing what a wrongly coded battery can do to the electrics and the car. Plus so far the glownplig fault has not returned. But early days on that one though I might be speaking too soon.
  14. If it is for looks then it will be a costly change. I cannot see there being any benefit in braking for normal road use, as the 340 front setup on my car is more than adequate.
  15. Does your car have the mode button and if so, is it in sport mode?
  16. Not a fan sorry. I dont like any of the stripey indicators lights on cars.
  17. I would ask Skoda to reflash all the control units and ecu with a fresh install. Sometimes it can be as simple as software glitch.
  18. Just been looking at buying a brake bleeder. You can buy them from £40 for a decent one and that would pay for itself after one change. Plus you can change the fluid yourself without having anyone pump the pedal for you.
  19. In comparison my local vag specialist charges £44 for full brake fluid change, which is more reasonable than dealers. It takes garages with the equipment minutes to change.
  20. Have you access to vcds as it would be handy to see if it does it on a forced regen. Then you can see if it shows any unusual readings.
  21. When I got the car in December 19, it was fitted with worn Goodyear Asy3 and some budget tyres on the rear.
  22. My Goodyear Asy 5s are very quiet. My wife always comments how quiet my car is compared to her Mini Cooper S Highgate. In fairness it is very quiet and relaxing...till my 16 month old daughter wakes up and lets us know 🤣
