  1. I would avoid led as they will fail an mot. They are not designed for the halogen headlight housing. I would opt for some uprated halogen bulbs and then get the headlights aligned.
  2. Cylinder 3 has the pressure sensor incorporated and is nearly £100 to buy.
  3. I would consider a sports cat. Not a lot of difference in flow between a good sports cat and a decat.
  4. Lowering is fine but just be prepared to wince a bit when going up or down a ramp in case you catch the bumper. My mk2 was lowered on eibachs and wasnt too low. You can go lower but I find you run into ride height issues as above. Plus you reduce the damper stroke and things can get a bit bouncy/crashy over bumps. You can buy shortened dampers as well which are designed to work with a reduced bound/rebound stroke.
  5. Had many cars with heated windscreens and never had any problems driving or seeing in any light or darkness. I have owned 3 Ford Focus, a Kuga and my current Octavia. I also wear glasses so cant see that being the issue.
  6. There are two links. One for the tuning boxes and one for the cuna/cupa engine. I dont like tuning boxes as they cost a lot and only adjust basic settings to increase power. A custom map done by a reputable tuner will be safer across the whole rev range and give a more driveable car. It might help the op as to why you had a tuning box but you decided on a remap anyway.
  7. Not a fan of tuning boxes as per below video from darkside develolments If you watch the other video he did aftee tuning a Golf GTD, it shows what works and what doesnt. Makes for a good watch and should save you some money in the long run. https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/Blog/mqb-platform-ea288-engine-tuning-184-cuna-cupa/
  8. I would ask if they have updated any modules whilst it was in. I had my DSG serviced and an update was applied. It now semi coasts when off the throttle in normal mode and it didnt do it before.
  9. Reliability is pot luck. You can have a standard car that is a total nightmare and faults all the time. Then have a modified car that doesnt miss a beat. There will always be a risk when modifying anything on the car as you are taking it out of its normal running parameters. The only bit of advice I can give is to make sure you go to a reputable tuner who has a map that is tried and tested and not just the cheapest one. Any tuner worth their salt will give your car a health check to ensure it is suitable for a map before uploading the map.
  10. The std turbo tops out at about 210bhp before you start getting high exhaust gas temperatures. You wont see much benefit on 0 to 60 times with a remap. The main benefit will be in the mid range speed such as overtaking etc. Well worth getting it done as I am looking at getting mine remapped at some point this year.
  11. Sounds normal behaviour. The DSG relies on your throttle input. If you put your foot down it will drop down the gears to the right one for the right speed etc. Equally if you don't use the pedal that much it will go up the gears very quickly for economy. The throttle pedal is deceiving as it is incremental and designed for economy. It gives you a delayed /vague response but you can get that changed to linear if you have vcds or obdeleven. You can also check the control units and easily adapt your throttle aswell yourself.
  12. Sometimes with Revo they use the SPS to alter between maps. I dont know if by fitting a new battery it has defaulted to the stock map or some settings have defaulted to zero. It might be worth contacting whomever you purchased the revo map from and see what they say. They may be able to reflash it for you to ensure everything is working as it should.
  13. Have you tried a reset by holding the on/off button down until it resets? That normally fixes software issues.
  14. I would consider the reupholster as they can install a firmer base and better quality foam. Plus you would have no issues with connectivity. My ocd on having different seats in a car would drive me mad 🤪
  15. I have always found the VRS seats very supportive as I have issues with my S.I. joint. I am sure you have spent many hours trying different settings and positions to no avail. Have you thought about getting the VRS seat re upholstered whilst out and reinforced to your liking?
  16. My current car is DSG and I think they are excellent. You have to drive around the quirks of the gearbox as described above but in town driving and long journeys it is a blessing. Acceleration is seemless and you always have the option to put it into manual if you so choose to. That being said I wouldnt have the DSG in the 1.6 as there are countless issues with that box.
  17. Has the handbrake been adjusted correctly?
  18. If you input your registration plate in the website ot should bring up pads that fit your car. Alternatively you can always phone them when they are open.
  19. Most quote with or without pad wear sensor. If you look on Horton Skoda online webshop they usually have good deals with genuine pads and discs. I only fit standard disc/pads as they are more than up to the job of stopping the car. Even with my old Stage 2+ 280bhp Octy TFSi. The std 312mm brakes worked perfectly. The 340mm brakes work really well as I have them on mine. Cant really think why anyone would bother fitting and spending anything other on their car for the road. Other than bragging rights or if you track day your car every month to justify the outlay. Id rather spend the extra money on family days out.
  20. Speak to Skoda or TPS and they shoukd be able to order them for you. Have you tried an telescopic magnet to try and fish it out. Or gently pull back on the lower trim to gain access to it.
  21. The first thing I would do is not panic. Cars whether manualnor dsg etc can all fail at various stages of their life. If you are keeping it and if it has not been serviced/reset recently. I know the dq200 is fit for life but there have been campaigns where issues have happened causing internal corrosion of the gearbox. They had different oil put in and a software update. I would get that checked as sometimes it just needs a reset. I would let someone take a look at it that you trust and agree a price before any work is started purely for your peace of mind. If you have vcds or obdeleven you can reset the dsg yourself. Plus if you plan on sticking with the VAG with yout next car it can be used on that. Saves a lot of money in the long run. You can check with Skoda UK and quote Service Campaign '34H5' is required on your car.
  22. Did you buy it by personal loan, pcp or hp?
  23. It might be worth getting it reset. If you have VCDS or OBDeleven you can do it yourself. I have reset my own DSG and it works a lot smoother now.
  24. It might be and just me confusing systems.
  25. Is it on the radio as a car setting instead?
